Abstract: A method of preparing a low calorie, Lactose-free and Phosphorus-reduced milk with multiple filtration, centrifugation, carbonation and phase separation steps to remove Lactose and Phosphorus from milk including skim milk. The method includes a filtration apparatus to employ ultrafiltration to remove Lactose and any component of Lactose. Ultra-Centrifugation is used additionally to increase and complete the removal of Lactose and to facilitate the reduction of Phosphorous in the final milk preparation. The process eliminates the conventional use of lactase enzyme to hydrolyze Lactose into its simple sugar components.

  • Patent number: 10238130
Abstract: Methods of simultaneously forming feed particles of different densities involves extruding a heated feed through an extruder having an extruder die defining a plurality of die openings. A first plurality of the die openings comprises a land length that is at least two times as long compared to a diameter of a respective die opening. A second plurality of the die openings comprises a land length that is equal to or less than a diameter of a respective die opening. Extrusion through the first plurality of the die forms extruded ribbons with a first density, while extrusion through the second plurality of the die openings forms extruded ribbons with a second density that is lower than the first density. The method proceeds by cutting the first and second plurality of extruded ribbons to simultaneously form feed particles of the first and second densities.

  • Patent number: 10136667
Abstract: A thickening composition which contains specific amounts of a metal salt-enclosing dextrin and a thickening polysaccharide and which has a good dispersibility raises the viscosity rapidly, and has an excellent thickening effect can be produced by the steps of obtaining the metal salt-enclosing dextrin by mixing, dissolving, and homogenizing a dextrin and a metal salt in water, followed by drying, and adding the metal salt-enclosing dextrin to the thickening polysaccharide followed by mixing or granulation. The thickening composition makes it possible to provide a thickening composition which has a good dispersibility, raises the viscosity rapidly, and offers an improved thickening effect per unit mass in a wide variety of water-containing foods such as water, teas, refreshing beverages, dairy beverages, soups, and thick liquid foods.
