    Abstract: The present invention relates to a heat-setting label sheet that is a polymeric transfer sheet that can be marked and transferred by the consumer. Also encompassed by the present invention is a method of transferring the heat-setting label sheets. The heat-setting label sheets of the present invention comprise a support; an optional pressure sensitive adhesive layer; an Adhesion Layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer which melts in the range of 50-250° C., a wax which melts in the range of 50-250° C., or combinations thereof; an optional opaque layer comprising a styrene-butadiene latex, thermoplastic polymer, elastomer, and optional pigment; and a second optional opaque layer comprising vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer, thermoplastic elastomer, elastomer and optional pigment. The heat-setting label sheet of the present invention can be imaged by an electrostatic printer or copier, ink jet printer, offset or screen printing, craft-type marking, and the like.

In a particular embodiment, the sheet further includes a water-accepting image holding layer in between the water-accepting adhesive layer and the water impermeable layer.     Abstract: A transfer sheet is used for transferring an image formed by electrostatic copying to a backing of textile fabric or other porous material. The transfer sheet is composed of a plain paper substrate having no release treatment or coating applied thereto, and a transfer coating of thermoplastic polymeric film material bonded to the substrate. Transfer of the image is accomplished using only the single transfer sheet. The plain paper substrate securely retains the polymeric film coating during electrostatic imprinting and avoids contamination of the copier/printer. The image can be transferred to a textile backing by applying heat of about 160° C. and 200° C. and pressure of about 50 psi for a duration of about 5 to 10 seconds, and results in a high-quality image transfer that leaves the fabric weave open to breathe. The plain paper substrate is removed after image transfer by peeling it away from the backing while still hot.

The backing layer is then detached from the release layer leaving the release and ink receiving layers (with the printed image thereon) on the substrate. This process transfers the image to the fabric substrate, with the image being stabilized by interactions between the quaternary ammonium salt and anionic coloring agent.

This objects can be achieved by providing, a method for forming a printed product through that a transfer layer bearing an image is transferred on a transfer-receiving material via a transferring adhesive layer, characterized in that the method comprises following steps. The first step is preparing an intermediate transfer recording medium comprising at least a base film and the transfer, and an adhesive layer transfer sheet comprising at least a substrate sheet and the transferring adhesive layer comprising at least an uppermost layer and a basement layer.

The shuttle provides the media with a second velocity component, the second velocity component being a function of the velocity of the shuttle. A cylinder has at least one die and a stamping area in which one of the at least one die urges the media against a substrate. The media and the substrate have same velocity in the stamping area during the urging, but the substrate has a greater average velocity than an average velocity of the media. A control arrangement is coupled to the feedroller, the shuttle and the cylinder. The control arrangement maintains a registration between the media and substrate.

A water permeable detack layer is then applied upon the layer of adhesive.

This permits printing and application of individual unique indicia on each individual heat activated transfer at a very low cost. This permits inventory control for cloth items such as hospital garments, linen and the like. It also permits uniforms and the like to be marked with the individual user's name at a relatively low cost.
