Patent number: 4428994Abstract: A facing for a wall or similar surface, primarily for anti-graffiti purposes, is provided by firstly the application to the surface to be faced of a layer of a primer and sealing coating composition containing a proportion of aggregate material such as china clay and a resin bonding agent. This first layer seals the surface and provides an adhesive exposed surface for receiving a further coating composition, e.g., in paste form. The further coating composition comprises an aqueous mixture of setting and filler materials such as gypsum and china clay, respectively, a resin binder, a hardening and strengthening constituent such as mica and a water-soluble coloring dye. On setting, the further coating composition provides a hard indentation-resistant surface, but prior to setting, the exposed surface thereof is textured to provide a relief preferably a patterned relief.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1981Date of Patent: January 31, 1984Assignee: Hubdean LimitedInventor: Patrick R. Patent number: 4343833Abstract: An organic coating with slits or holes in a predetermined pattern is disposed on the surface of an electrically insulating substrate on which electrode leads have been formed. A paste of an electrically resistive material fills the slits or holes and is dried at 120.degree. to 140.degree. C. The surface of the paste is flush with that of the coating after which the paste preliminarily baked in a stream of oxygen at 500.degree. to 600.degree. C. while the coating is burnt off. The paste is fully baked at 800.degree. to 1000.degree. C. to form a heating resistor elements.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1980Date of Patent: August 10, 1982Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tetsunori Sawae, Hiromi Yamashita, Takafumi Endo, Toshio Tobita

Patent number: 4317847Abstract: The method of forming a simulated weathered antique wood finish on a surface in which the surface is first coated with a dark paint, and while still wet, a second coat of paint of a lighter color is brushed thereover to streak the same while varying the brushing pressure to vary the amount of blending with the first coat. A third coat of still lighter color is thereafter brushed over the second coat while the latter is still wet to streak the second coat while likewise varying the brushing pressure to vary the amount of blending with the second coat.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1977Date of Patent: March 2, 1982Inventor: Nello Batistelli

Patent number: 4279674Abstract: A process for preparing a work of art includes steps of melting crayon, transferring that molten crayon to a backing member to form a background and forming a design on that background. The design is formed using a hand-held heating element to melt portions of the background and/or to transfer further molten crayon to the background. A kit containing crayons and backing members is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1979Date of Patent: July 21, 1981Inventor: Marie-Claire Wadden

Patent number: 4217378Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing a decorative and artistic effect on a flat surface, preferably a clear, flat surface, by brushing or spraying a colored coating material, such as paint thereon, placing a sheet of flexible film on the coated surface, pressing in place until the coating dries, and then removing the film to leave a decorative patterned coating. The resultant monoprint can be used as a room divider, lamp shade, window presenting the effect of stained glass, or for other purposes. When a clear, flat surface is used, the monoprint formed can be sprayed with a contrasting color and arranged to present the uncoated side for viewing in use. The flexible film can optionally be initially distorted by application of heat, creasing, or otherwise to produce variations in the decorative or artistic effect.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1978Date of Patent: August 12, 1980Inventor: Stephen J. Patent number: 4215193Abstract: Toner particles of an intimate mixture of 25 to 75% by weight of substantially colorless, inert, nonelectroscopic spheroidal-shape polymer particles of size distribution in the range of greater than 5 to less than 60 .mu.m, not more than 15% of the polymer particles being less than 10 .mu.m or greater than 50 .mu.m equivalent spherical diameter, and 75 to 25% by weight of colorant particles having a size distribution within the range of 0.2 to 30 .mu.m and not more than 50% of the colorant particles being less than 1 .mu.m particle size. Ionic copolymer spheroidal particles are preferred. The toner particles are useful for color development of tacky areas by depositing and distributing the toner particles by means of a pad, including an applicator apparatus comprising a housing for toner, a free moving weight in the housing for agitating the toner, means to release toner from the housing, and at least two hinged pads mounted on the housing.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1978Date of Patent: July 29, 1980Assignee: E. Patent number: 4203789Abstract: The invention provides a process for reproducing pictorial works, in particular paintings, on a canvas, wood or the like support, by taking a photograph or a flat copy of the original painting, a process wherein said support is prepared by making relief portions therein which correspond to the relief portions of the original painting to be reproduced, and said photograph or flat copy are applied on to said relief support thus prepared.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1977Date of Patent: May 20, 1980Inventor: Gerard L. Patent number: 4191792Abstract: A paint roller for producing texture paint surfaces having a cylindrical core with a paint applying and texturing cover bonded to the outer surface of the cylindrical core. The paint applying and texturing cover is an open web of interengaged continuous crinkled coarse filaments of resilient material. The open loops of the open web carry the texture paint material, apply it to the surface being painted, and texture it in essentially a single motion. During application, the loop elements are actually immersed in the texture paint material and lift it into peaks, thereby producing deeper textures than has generally been possible in the past.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1978Date of Patent: March 4, 1980Assignee: Padco, Inc.Inventor: Robert I. Patent number: 4105816Abstract: A decorative relief finished surface is formed by applying to the surface of an object or substrate to be patterned an undercoat of coating material to a predetermined thickness, and forming an uneven pattern having a variety of projections on coated surface a plurality of times with a rolling device having a plurality of convex parts of curved continued, disconnected or perforated line shape which are formed in a random manner, with the intervals between the convex parts being substantially equal to each other, or by spraying coating material with a spray gun so as to form a multiplicity of projections of varying height. Then, the top portions of the projections of the partially hardened surface which extend beyond a predetermined height are pressed with a pressing roll, such that the projections are uniformly flattened to a predetermined thickness while the rest of the convex parts are left unflattened. The pressing roll is made of a hard or semi-hard, air-permeable, porous material.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1975Date of Patent: August 8, 1978Assignee: Nippon Paint Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kiyoshi Hori
