Abstract: A flame retardant polymeric foam material and its manufacturing method are provided. The flame retardant polymeric foam material comprises a polymeric foam, and an organic flame retardant coating on the surface of the polymeric foam which is obtained by spraying, coating or by impregnating after the organic flame retardant melts. The present invention selects those types of flame retardants which are very effective in improving the flame retardancy of the polymeric foams; especially those effective for extruded polystyrene foams, and provides a simple and feasible approach to obtain polymeric foams with excellent flame retardant property. The methods can effectively increase the amount of the flame retardants added without affecting foaminess of the foam products and reducing strength or insulation properties of polymeric foams. Different flame retardancy requirements can be satisfied by simply varying the amount of the flame retardants coated on the polymeric foam surface.

Abstract: The invention described herein includes a repellent elastomeric article particularly useful in industrial and medical fields, such as gloves. The article contains an elastomeric base and a fluid-repellent coating composition that effectively repels both hydrophilic and lipophilic liquids from its surface. The coating comprises a low surface energy ingredient, such as a fluoroalkyl acrylic polymer. In a preferred embodiment, the low surface energy ingredient is in combination with a hydrophobic ingredient, such as a wax-based dispersion. Articles prepared in accordance with the invention reduce the risk of contamination associated with blood and other body fluids, as well as reduce fluid-based visual obstruction and enhance the clarity of medical procedures. The invention also provides a fluid-repellent coating composition for elastomeric articles, a process for preparing a fluid-repellent elastomeric article, and a method of reducing the ability of fluids to adhere to the surface of an elastomeric article.

Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a golf ball having a paint film which is obtained from an environment-friendly aqueous paint and is excellent in the adhesion and the wear-resistance. The gist of the present invention lies in improving the adhesion between the paint film obtained from the aqueous polyurethane paint and the surface of the golf ball body by first applying the aqueous liquid of the aqueous polycarbodiimide on the surface of the golf ball body, subsequently forming the primer layer comprising the aqueous polycarbodiimide, and then applying the aqueous polyurethane paint to form the paint film, while reducing the amount of solvent used in the aqueous paint for applying on the golf ball by using the polycarbodiimide liquid and the aqueous polyurethane paint.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing an optical recording medium. In the method, on the surface of a recording layer formed by spin-coating a first coating solution containing a photo-isomerizable component, a second coating solution that contains a photo-isomerizable component that can be isomerized by radiation having the same wavelength as radiation used for isomerizing the photo-isomerizable component contained in the recording layer and incapable of dissolving the recording layer is spin-coated to form an intermediate layer. Since the intermediate layer thus formed cannot be dissolved by the first coating solution, a recording layer is further laminated on this layer. Thus, it becomes possible to make the recording layer thicker and also to provide a high-density recording characteristic.
