Including Interlaminar Mechanical Fastener Patents (Class 428/223)
  • Patent number: 11168025
Abstract: The invention concerns a composite system for reinforcing, in particular, structures made from reinforced concrete or masonry comprising a curable or cured matrix and a textile reinforcement grid, and said two elements taken as such. The aim of the invention is for this system to make it possible to produce a cured composite structure having improved mechanical properties, both in the short term and in the long term (e.g. flexing behaviour, hardness, bending/compression resistance, durability, cohesion). This aim is achieved by the system of the invention in which the grid comprises at least one layer formed: —both from a framework consisting of flat warp yarns and weft yarns; —and from a network binding the framework; characterised in that the binding network is such that it ensures the geometric regularity and dimensional stability of the meshes of the framework, before the grid is applied to the structure to be reinforced.

  • Patent number: 10239281
Abstract: A process to create composite preforms and parts by stacking layers of two-dimensional fiber material (e.g., fiber cloth, fiber reinforced fabric, etc.) having pin-receiving holes and/or gaps disposed between the fibers of the fiber material is described. The stack is pinned together using a subset of pins, such as fiber reinforcing pins, inserted into a subset of the pin receiving holes and/or gaps, leaving at least some of the pin receiving holes and/or gaps available for pinning other layers, as layers of fiber material are added to the stack. As additional layers are added to the stack, different subsets of pins connect the additional layers to the stack, thereby building up the stack. Each layer of fiber material may have a different shape than the other layers and any arbitrary topology, potentially including non-convex and/or disjoint shapes. Furthermore, implementations may produce composite preforms having an arbitrary number of interconnected layers.

  • Patent number: 8574703
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for positioning and assembly of two or more parts wherein at least one of which is of a creep sensitive material. The method and apparatus enable very precise positioning of parts during assembly by holding a rough alignment with free play permitting finer alignment. Creep resistant annular inserts are molded into the part and provided with flow apertures to conduct plastic material into the annular insert bore. A spindle defined the geometry of a centering hole within the bore during molding. The annular inserts are operable as compression limiters to prevent deformation of the creep sensitive material under the action of heat or tightening stresses.
