  • Publication number: 20110148175
Abstract: To achieve weight reduction while providing elasticity sufficient in a cushioning member for a vehicle seat, an elastic member made of expanded resin beads includes an elastic covering material having stretching properties stuck to an outer face of an expanded bead body. Therefore, when the elastic member made of expanded resin beads is bent or compressed, the respective beads themselves configuring the expanded bead body are elastically deformed according to stretching or compressing of the elastic covering material, and since the elastic deformation is not such deformation that a gap between beads of the expanded bead body largely expands, a crack occurring between beads or permanent deformation does not occur so that bending or compressing becomes possible. Accordingly, the elastic member made of expanded resin beads is suitable as a cushioning member utilizing an elastic recovering force in a bending direction and a thickness direction thereof.

Also described is a process for reinforcing or stiffening a normally open-cellular structure, any tubular structure, or any channel structure, by putting at least one sag-resistant nucleus-forming monolithic composite within a hollow interior portion of the structure.

Abstract: A 3D multi-layer heat conduction diffusion plate comprises at least one super conduction diffusion plate which is capable of quickly conducting heat energy, has a short cooling time, and can dissipate heat to a surrounding environment. A soft and bendable material capable of transmitting electrical signals or a fiber glass material capable of transmitting signals can be affixed on an upper and lower surface of the aforementioned super conduction diffusion plate. A micro-porous air-permeable ceramic plate having a high thermal conductivity, which is provided with irregularly arranged air-permeable holes can also be affixed to the aforementioned super conduction diffusion plate, so as to allow air to quickly conduct heat energy to the surrounding environment.

Abstract: Provided is a melt composition for a heat shrinkable foam structure that includes at least one base polymer and a blowing agent made from at least one heat-activated chemical compound encapsulated by a plurality of polymeric shells. The melt composition may also include a crosslinking promoter or other additives. Also provided is a method for making a heat-shrinkable polymer foam tubing. A melt composition containing at least one base polymer material having a melt temperature and a blowing agent having an activation temperature is provided. The melt composition is mixed at an elevated temperature. The melt composition is then extruded through a die at a high temperature. The extruded foam tube is then processed, often heat-processed.

  • Publication number: 20080096003
Abstract: A boot/trunk opening in the vehicle body has a flange to which a looped sealing strip should be attached. However, when the boot/trunk lid is fixed to the vehicle body by hinge arms, these hinge arms prevent a pre-formed loop-shaped sealing strip being satisfactorily fitted to the flange. Disclosed herein is a sealing strip having a heat-bonding air-permeable foil attached to one end thereof. A sealing strip of this type can be supplied in strip form and threaded between the hinge arms and the vehicle body. The end of the sealing strip to which the foil is already attached is then bonded to the other end of the sealing strip by a bonding operation performed at the vehicle to form a looped sealing strip. An apparatus and method for performing this in situ bonding operation is disclosed. Apparatus for forming a sealing strip with a foil attached to one end thereof is also disclosed.
