Patent number: 10295109Abstract: A breathable, multi-layer exhaust insulation system is provided. The system includes a multi-layer sleeve, wherein the first layer, which is positioned adjacent the exhaust system pipes, is a braided sleeve which may be constructed from high-temperature resistant materials such as e-glass, s-glass, silica or ceramic. Additional braided layers of material may be included, as well. An outside cover of material is preferably a circular knitted fabric that contains glass fibers and resin-based fibers. The knitted fabric forms a tube on the outside of the insulating layers, and may be formed from a core spun yarn, which includes a glass filament core and a high-melt fiber on the wrap. Optionally, the system may also include a perforated or unperforated metal foil layer and/or a tape wrap, and the various components may be configured as desired.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2018Date of Patent: May 21, 2019Assignee: SAPREX, LLCInventor: Robert Jacque Goulet

Patent number: 10246537Abstract: A resin composition according to an aspect of the present invention comprises: an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A); and a block copolymer (B) having a block (b1) that includes a vinyl aromatic monomer unit, and a block (b2) that includes an isobutylene unit, wherein the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) and the block copolymer (B) form a co-continuous phase structure; and a DSC curve obtained following heating the resin composition up to a melting point and cooling at a rate of 50° C./min in a differential scanning calorimetry analysis shows two peaks, with a higher peak top temperature falling within a range of 130° C. or greater and 170° C. or less, and a lower peak top temperature falling within a range of 100° C. or greater and less than 130° C. A resin composition may thus be obtained that is able to give a molded article that is superior in balance between gas barrier properties and flexibility.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2015Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: KURARAY CO., LTD.Inventors: Wataru Hirose, Takeyuki Igarashi

Patent number: 10118332Abstract: The disclosure relates to forming shaped thermoplastic articles having smooth peripheries. Many thermoplastic articles have sharp edges formed upon molding or cutting the article from a feedstock sheet. Such sharp edges can damage thin plastic films or flesh which they contact, and smoothing the edges is desirable. Described herein are methods of forming a smooth periphery for such sharp-edged articles by rolling over the sharp edge. The smoothing operation is performed by forming a deflectable flange including a bend region separated from the potentially sharp peripheral edge by a spacer, deflecting a portion of the deflectable flange, and softening at least one bent portion of the deflectable flange to yield a smooth periphery upon cooling. A liner sheet may be attached to the feedstock sheet prior to, during, or after forming and can be peelable therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2017Date of Patent: November 6, 2018Assignee: Converter Manufacturing, LLCInventor: Millard F Wallace
