Patent number: 8124227Abstract: The object of the present invention is carbon nanofibers mainly characterized by their high specific volume of mesopores, their high gas adsorption capacity and presenting a graphitic hollow structure. A second object of this invention is a procedure for obtaining such carbon nanofibers, which makes use of a metallic nickel catalyst and specific process furnace parameters that combined with the chemical composition of the furnace atmosphere and the fluidodynamic conditions of the gas stream inside the furnace, result in a faster growth of the carbon nanofibers and also in a higher quality of the carbon nanofibers obtained.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2008Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Assignee: Grupo Antolin-Ingenieria, S.A.Inventors: José Luis Gonzalez Moral, José Vera Agulló, César Merino Sánchez, Ignacio Martín Gullón

Patent number: 8017234Abstract: The present invention relates to a structural object coated with a superhydrophobic nanostructure composite, the structural object being obtained by densely coating a surface of a solid substrate having a desired shape with a nanostructure obtained by combining a polymer having a polyethyleneimine skeleton with silica on the nanometer order, and bonding a hydrophobic group to the surface of the nanostructure, and a process for producing the structural object. The present invention also relates to a structural object coated with a superhydrophobic nanostructure composite, the structural object being obtained by removing the polymer having the polyethyleneimine skeleton from the nanostructure and bonding a hydrophobic group to the surface of the residual nanostructure containing silica as a main constituent component, and a process for producing the structural object. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method of using the structural object as a container for transferring an aqueous solution.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2009Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignees: DIC Corporation, Kawamura Institute of Chemical ResearchInventors: Ren-Hua Jin, Jian-Jun Yuan

Publication number: 20110177333Abstract: The aim of the invention is to improve a generally known method for producing quartz glass doped with fluorine, wherein SiO2 particles are formed in the presence of fluorine by means of a plasma deposition process, deposited in layers on an outer envelope of a cylindrical quartz glass substrate body rotating about its longitudinal axis, and vitrified to form a layer of quartz glass with a fluorine content of at least 1.5 wt. %, in such a way that a quartz glass semifinished product with a high fluorine content, characterised by a high basic transmission in the UV wavelength range, is obtained. To this end, the substrate body has at least one reservoir layer of quartz glass at least in the region of the outer envelope thereof, having a minimum hydroxyl group content of 200 wt. ppm and/or a minimum hydrogen content of 1×1017 molecules/cm3, and the substrate body is either fully or partially removed following the deposition of the quartz glass layer doped with fluorine.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2009Publication date: July 21, 2011Applicant: Heraeus Quarzglas GmbH & Co. Publication number: 20110143089Abstract: A method of manufacturing a mechanical component, and winding device to implementing the method. The component includes at least one insert of metal matrix composite, within which matrix ceramic fibers extend, the composite insert obtained from a plurality of coated filaments each including a ceramic fiber coated with a metal sheath. The method manufactures an insert preform by winding a bonded lap or bundle of coated filaments about a cylindrical component. At least some of the winding is performed in at least one rectilinear direction. The method further inserts the insert preform in a first container; performs hot isostatic compaction of the first container; and machines the first container to form a rectilinear insert.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2008Publication date: June 16, 2011Applicants: SNECMA, MESSIER DOWTYInventors: Patrick Dunleavy, Jean-Michel Patrick, Maurice Franchet, Gilles Charles, Casimir Klein, Richard Masson
