The electromagnetic energy source supplies electromagnetic energy to the fiber and the fibers emit portions of the EM energy along the length of the fiber. The sealant material absorbs a quantity of the electromagnetic energy sufficient to cure the sealant material and propagates excess electromagnetic energy through the sealant material without significant additional absorption. This prevents the sealant material from over-curing. Additionally, a fully cured material can be used to generate thermal energy and thereby serve as a heat blanket that can be used to de-ice aircraft.

    Abstract: A reinforced ceramic structure, such as a superplastic forming die for forming a metal part, has a body of cast silica/calcium aluminate or mullite based ceramic material; and a plurality of reinforcing rods, made of monolithic fused oxides of silicon or aluminum, cast into said ceramic body. The rods have a thickness between ⅛″-2.0″ and are spaced apart on centers by about 2-10 times the diameter of the rods. The rods are bonded in the ceramic body or they may be coated with a release agent to prevent bonding to said ceramic body so that they can translate in the direction of their axes to prevent cracking during drying and curing. The rods are disposed in an array of at least two rows, with the rods in each row arranged parallel to each other and with the rods in adjacent rows arranged orthogonally to each other. The rows are spaced apart a distance equal to about ½-3 times the diameter of the rods.

Overlying the barrier layer is a highly smooth outer surface layer comprising an addition-cured poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomer and having a roughness value, Ra, no greater than about 10 microinches. Further in accordance with the invention is a process for forming the just described toner fuser roll.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a melt-blown non-woven fabric based on cellulose esters, with fibers of mean diameter less than about 10 microns. The fabric contains 0-10 wt. % extractable softener, has a reflection factor determined according to DIN 53 145 Part I (1992) of more than 60% and the cellulose ester has a degree of substitution DS of about 1.5-3.0. The softener is preferably water-extractable. A melt-blown non-woven fabric is produced with the cellulose ester as follows: a cellulose ester, cellulose acetate, with a DS of about 1.5-3.0, in particular 1.7-2.7, is mixed with softener in a weight ratio of about 2:1 to 1:4 and simultaneously heated and melted. The mixture of softener and cellulose ester has a melting index MFI (210/2.16) according to DIN 53 735 of about 400 to 5 g/10 min., in particular 300 to 50 g/10 min. The melt is worked in a melt-blown spinning device into a melt-blown non-woven fabric and the softener is then extracted with a softener solvent to leave a proportion of 0-10 wt. %.

The inside of the tubes can be coated with a desired material such as a catalyst. The tubes further may act as devices upon which materials can be deposited which are not compatible with the fiber and further may have depressions or elevations therein that were imparted to the fibers upon which the tubes were formed. The wall layers may be porous for the purpose of removing the fiber therethrough. Further the hollow tubes can be used in a preform by themselves or serve the purpose of being used to form rods or filaments in the desired configuration after the tubes are removed.

These novel structures have high percolation rates and high densities of active sites, rendering them particularly suitable for catalytic applications.

An irregularly zone is added to the edge of each decal, and along with an ultraviolet responsive additive placed in the decal adhesive, allows the decal to form an indelible footprint on the product to which it is applied. The footprint, invisible to the eye, becomes visible under ultraviolet light, allowing identification of a specific decal and proof of its application to a product, even when the decal is no longer on the product.

Preferably, the thread of the present invention is comprises of at least about 10 individual strands that are each about 0.01 inches in diameter. Most preferably, the thread is a solvent spun polyether urea thread manufactured by combining over 25 strands with diameters of less than about 0.002 inches. Because of the smaller thread dimension, the thread of the present invention is capable of being wound more densely than the typical thread. The elastic modulus of this thread is greater than about 20 ksi when wound about a center. The maximum elongation of the thread is greater than about 8%. The smaller cross-sectional area of the thread and higher elastic modulus of the thread also enable production of golf balls with less total thread volume.

    Abstract: On one surface of a normal paper sheet 1, patterns 2 are printed, and tabs 3 for sticking are printed at the outside portions of the outlines of the patterns 2. On the reverse sides of the patterns 2, sticky surfaces 4 are provided at corresponding portions to which the tabs 3 for sticking are to be stuck. On the side having sticky surfaces 4 are provided a release sheet 6 whose size is substantially the same as the paper sheet 1. Lines 7 for clipping are provided along the outlines of the patterns 2 and the tabs 3 for sticking. Lines 8 and 9 for folding are provided in an inside area of the lines for clipping. The patterns 2 and the tabs 3 for sticking are clipped along the lines 7 for clipping. The clipped patterns are fabricated into a three-dimensional toy by folding along the lines for folding. Then the tabs 3 for sticking are fixedly stuck to the sticky surfaces 4 which are on the reverse sides of the patterns 2.

    Abstract: This invention relates to an article useful as a substrate for security printing comprising a pre-cut facestock capable of being printed, a pressure sensitive adhesive having a first and second surface, and a release liner, wherein the first surface of the pressure sensitive adhesive is bonded to the facestock and the second surface is releasably bonded to the release liner, and wherein the bond strength of the releasable bond between the pressure sensitive adhesive and the release liner is greater than the temporary bonds formed with an ink and the printable surface of the facestock. The articles and methods of the present invention involve articles useful as facestocks for security printing. In one embodiment, the invention relates to the preparation and printing of stamps. An advantage of the present articles and methods is the use of articles with a pressure sensitive adhesive and a release layer, which do not lift off during printing.

The card holder is formed from an intermediate having a first (e.g. paper) ply, a second release liner ply, and pressure sensitive adhesive or cohesive holding the plies together. Various die cuts and lines of weakness (such as perf lines) are provided in the plies so as to facilitate easy assembly of the card holder from an integral sheet by removing various die cut strips or sections in sequence to readily fold the intermediate after imaging (for example with a laser printer) and then apply the card holder formed with the pressure sensitive adhesive or cohesive already associated with the intermediate, to a library book or the like.

When the front door is melted for recycling, a molding having desirable characteristic is achievable. When the decal is peeled off the door body in order to reuse the front door, the adhesive can be easily removed from the door body.

Each group identifies an owner of the objects on which the labels of that group are adhered. The master tracking sheet includes a plurality of columns, each column being associated with a respective group of labels. The indicia relates to at least one of price, condition, inventory codes and conditions for sale of the object on which the labels are adhered. When an object is sold, the monetary value on a label adhered thereto is inserted in the correct column on the tracking sheet.

    Abstract: A tape laminate comprising a support layer having first and second parts, and an anchor portion of one of its opposite major surfaces on each of the parts. The first and second parts of the support layer are disposed with the anchor portions on opposite sides of the support layer and in generally parallel relationship. The anchor portions can be bonded to the opposed surfaces of rigid objects so that the tape laminate supports one object from the other against a static force generally parallel to the anchor portions. One of those bonds is made by an attachment strip having a portion of its outer major surface defined by pressure sensitive adhesive and its inner major surface bonded to one of the anchor portions, and a manually engageable tab portion at one end. The attachment strip is stretchable by pulling its tab portion to release adhesive engagement of its outer major surface from an object to which it is adhered.

A method for controlling the slip of silicone coated film by coating the back side of the film with this slip control coating is also disclosed.
