Abstract: The invention is a patch system for repairing collapsible fuel tanks, water tanks, inflatable boats, and other articles fabricated from a flexible structural fabric coated with a polymer. The coated structural fabric is made of nylon or polyester synthetic fibers or a blend thereof, which are coated with a thermoplastic elastomer. The structural coated fabric is coated with a thermoplastic elastomer that is a urethane (TPU), or a TPU alloy polymer. Likewise, the patch is a urethane adhesive having a latent cure coated on a TPU film. The patch can also have an integral reinforcing fabric for applications requiring a higher tensile patch. In the invention, the urethane adhesive of the patch is solvent activated by the application of a thin coating of a volatile, substantially low odor, fugitive solvent like acetone or MEK. While in the activated state, the adhesive has much less cyrstallinity and a lot more tack.

  • Patent number: 6733888
Abstract: Disclosed is a floor-covering material, in which a phenol composite resin comprising phenol resin of resorcinol-formaline and polyurethane resin is incorporated with paper and dried, to form a prepreg, which is then thermally compressed to the upper side of a PVC base or a waterproof plywood layer, yielding a transparent protective layer and a shaping layer. In the flooring material, the transparent layer and the shaping layer are made of phenol composite resin, and thus low in heat- and moisture-distortion, with no curling. Further, since a surface layer of the floor-covering material is hardly distorted by heat, a balance layer for the suppression of such distortion is not additionally required.

Abstract: A resin-impregnated endless belt for a long nip press or calender of the shoe type, or for other papermaking and paper-processing applications, has a base support structure which includes coated elements, such as yarns, having a coating of a first polymeric resin material. The base support structure is in the form of an endless loop, at least one of the inner and outer surfaces of which is coated with a second polymeric resin material. The second polymeric resin material impregnates the structure of the base support structure, rendering it impermeable to oil and water. The first and second polymeric resin materials have an affinity for one another, so that the coating of second polymeric resin material on the base support structure as a whole establishes a chemical, as well as a mechanical, interlock with the coated yarns having the coating of first polymeric resin material.
