    Abstract: A capacitive touch unit includes a transparent substrate, a polymeric transparent substrate, a second conductive layer and an adhesive layer. The transparent substrate is coated with at least one first conductive layer and is correspondingly attached to the polymeric transparent substrate. The second conductive layer is selectively disposed on one of two sides of the polymeric transparent substrate. The adhesive layer is disposed between the transparent substrate and the polymeric transparent substrate. By means of the capacitive touch unit, the thickness can be greatly reduced and the manufacturing cost can be greatly lowered.

    Abstract: Methods to control and prevent polymer films from buckling are provided. Buckled morphologies are created by thermally cycling or mechanically compressing a substrate such as poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) coated with a polyelectrolyte multilayer film. By varying the dimensions of the surface topography relative to the buckling wavelength (e.g., pattern size is less than, equal to, and greater than the buckling wavelength) the orientation and the local morphology of the buckled films is controlled. Based on the information obtained, we demonstrate how to alleviate the unavoidable buckling by incorporating nanoparticles into the film. In addition, we studied the effect of the silica layer that results from oxygen plasma treatment and the critical temperature for permanent film buckling.

Exemplary methods herein include methods of priming substrates and methods of coating substrates using compounds having the formula R1—X—R2, wherein R1 is a radical comprising a vinyl group, X is a radical comprising from about one to about twenty carbon atoms, and R2 is a radical comprising a photoreactive group. Embodiments herein also include linking agents having the formula R1—X—R2, wherein R1 is a radical comprising a vinyl group, X is a radical comprising from about one to about twenty carbon atoms, and R2 is a radical comprising a photoreactive group.
