  • Patent number: 8435634
Abstract: A fabric batting tape (10) that is utilized to fuse two pieces of material (24,28) together. The fabric batting tape (10) is comprised of a knitted fabric strip (12) having an upper surface (14) and a lower surface (16), and a hot-melt adhesive (22) that is located on the lower surface (16). The two pieces of material (24,28) are placed together, with a side edge (26) of one piece of the material (24) abutting a side edge (30) of the other piece (28). A length of the knitted fabric strip (12) is placed on top of the two pieces of material (24,28) with the adhesive lower surface (16) contacting the upper surfaces of the two pieces of material. When heat and pressure are applied via a heating element to the fabric strip (12), the heat activates the adhesive thereby creating a secure permanent fuse which maintains the two pieces of material (24,28) together along with the knitted fabric strip (12).

  • Patent number: 8372502
Abstract: Components may be interconnected using liquid materials such as liquid adhesive and solder. To prevent undesired movement between the components during the assembly process and to prevent the liquid material from flowing into undesired areas, an attachment and dam structure may be provided. The structure may be formed from a substrate such as a flexible polymer film coated with adhesive. When interposed between first and second components, the structure attaches the first and second components and prevents movement between the first and second components. The structure may have one or more edges adjacent to the liquid material to block the liquid material from flowing while the liquid material is in its liquid state. Once the components have been connected, the liquid material can be solidified.

Abstract: Discovery of an improved method in mending the overexposed hole when the plastic flip flop strap anchor has separated completely from the rubber sole. What is referenced to as a “patch,” is put on in a “buttoning” manner. The patch has an adhesive that has a protective cover. Before the patch is applied, the protective cover should be peeled completely to expose the adhesive. With the adhesive facing the bottom sole of the flip flop, button the patch on to the plastic anchor and secure the adhesive against the sole of the flip flop sandal. The mend is permanent, fun, colorful, creative, and 100% environmentally recyclable. This method also adds extra cushion. Foam rubber flip flops wear over time, condensing the foam rubber and exposing the plastic “knobs” that are behind the arch of the foot.
