Abstract: A molded cementitious architectural product for use in building construction has a cementitious body made of a molded cementitious material, the surface of which is polished (i.e., burnished) to better resemble natural stone. The polished surface is formed by exposing a portion of the molded cementitious material while in a green condition, more particularly after initial set but before final hardening of the hydraulic cement binder, and burnishing the surface before final hardening. Burnishing the surface of the green cementitious material before final hardening aligns the cement particles at the surface and seals the surface. The inclusion of an organic polymer binder within the cementitious material, such as an acrylic or latex polymer, assists in creating a polished surface resembling natural polished stone. The extent of cement hydration may be determined by monitoring the temperature of the cementitious material within the mold.

Abstract: A chip, token or gaming piece having a textured pattern on either or both of its upper and lower planar surfaces and a machine for applying the textured pattern so as to reduce or prevent chips, tokens or gaming pieces from sticking together, are provided. The textured pattern can extend through to the peripheral edges of the chip, token or gaming piece to introduce air and break the surface tension on the planar surfaces. The machine can include an input collection hopper that delivers chips, tokens or gaming pieces individually to a receiver. At the receiver, a slide carriage can move each chip to a working position where dies can be pressed against the planar surfaces to imprint a pattern of indentations or grooves. After the textured pattern is applied, the chip, token or gaming piece can be removed from the working area and sent to an output hopper. A method of making the chip, token or gaming piece is also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for forming a non-linear channel through a molded component. The system includes a forming device having a molding chamber, and a malleable core-out pin positioned within the molding chamber. The malleable core-out pin includes at least one curve. Liquid plastic is injected into the molding chamber and flows around the malleable core-out pin to form the molded component. After the plastic solidifies and cools, the malleable core-out pin is removed from the molded component to form the non-linear channel through the molded component.

In a preferred aspect, the porous inorganic substrate has a porosity of at least 5%, and is a porous monolith formed using a sol-gel method. The articles thus formed provide a confined fluid flow through the porous substrate, providing superior performance in separations, catalysis, filtration, and the like.

Abstract: The present invention is a decorative panel formed with an inlay design created by forming a number of inlay openings within a substrate for the panel by laser cutting the openings in the substrate. The openings are formed in communication with a pocket that is formed in the substrate opposite the inlay openings, such that the inlay openings and the pocket extend completely through the substrate. The pocket enables a piece of a filler material to be positioned within a pocket to form an appropriate backing for the inlay members which are positioned in the inlay openings and securely attached to the filler material.

Abstract: A component-embedded PCB and a method of manufacturing the PCB are disclosed. Using a method that includes perforating a cavity in a core substrate; inserting a component in the cavity; stacking a film layer over the core substrate; forming at least one post by selectively leaving behind the film layer in correspondence to a position of at least one electrode of the component; covering an insulation layer over the core substrate such that the post penetrates the insulation layer to be exposed at a surface of the insulation layer; and forming at least one via hole by removing the post, can provide increased precision and finer pitch. Also, since laser is not used when processing the vias, damage to the component that may occur due to the laser is prevented. Furthermore, tolerance defects may be decreased, as well as defects caused by residue left after processing.

The resin component containing 5 wt % or more of a transparent inorganic fine particle component as the inorganic particle component and a concavo-convex surface wherein a maximum height between concavity and convexity ranges 1 mm to 100 mm. Further, the transparent inorganic fine particle component, which is exposed on the concavo-convex surface, is studded with sparkling points which change based on irradiation and movement of natural light or artificial light. The artificial stone wall material provides a novel means for finishing a wall surface which permits easy design of a wall surface and projection of the effect of the design.
