Abstract: The magnetic recording medium includes a non-magnetic support; and a magnetic layer including a ferromagnetic powder, in which an isoelectric point of a surface zeta potential of the magnetic layer after pressing the magnetic layer at a pressure of 70 atm is equal to or less than 3.8.
Abstract: Subject: A process for producing a magnetic recording medium, having a magnetic recording layer and a protective layer on a substrate which is a non-magnetic support, wherein the medium is able to greatly inhibit migration of a lubricant from the protective layer to the surface of the metal pressing plate having a mirrored finish in a hot pressing step during production of the magnetic recording medium, while maintaining satisfactory scratch resistance, suitable adhesion with the magnetic recording layer and the protective layer, and excellent read and write properties of the magnetic recording medium.
Abstract: An aspect of the present invention relates to a magnetic recording medium comprising on one surface of a nonmagnetic support a nonmagnetic layer containing a nonmagnetic powder and a binder and a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder and a binder in this order, as well as comprising a backcoat layer on the other surface of the nonmagnetic support. The nonmagnetic layer is a radiation-cured layer formed by curing with radiation a given radiation-curable composition, and the backcoat layer comprises filler particles with an average primary particle diameter, D50, ranging from 0.05 to 1.0 ?m, the filler particles being selected from the group consisting of organic polymer particles and inorganic colloidal particles.
Abstract: A magnetic tape comprising a non-magnetic support, a primer layer formed on one surface of the support, a magnetic layer formed on the primer layer, and a back layer formed on the other surface of the support, in which the tape has a total thickness of 4.0 to 5.4 ?m, at least one of the primer layer and the magnetic layer contains a fatty acid amide, and an amount of the fatty acid amide extracted from the side of the magnetic layer with n-hexane is from 0.5 to 1.5 mg/cm3.
Abstract: The present invention provides a high recording density magnetic recording medium with excellent surface smoothness, as well as excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics and durability. A magnetic recording medium comprising a lower non-magnetic layer containing at least a non-magnetic powder and a binder resin on a non-magnetic support, and an upper magnetic layer with a thickness of 0.2 ?m or less on said lower non-magnetic layer, wherein said lower non-magnetic layer contains an acicular powder of hydrated iron oxide as the non-magnetic powder, and said lower non-magnetic layer contains a fatty acid and a fatty acid amide. Preferably the acicular powder of hydrated iron oxide is goethite with an average long axial length of 0.15 ?m or less.
