Patent number: 5589292Abstract: In a tool for boosting (jump starting) a vehicle, it is know that there is a battery as a power source and booster cables to bring the energy to the engine. In this invention, the battery and the cables are incorporated into one unit which includes the battery, the cables and protective holsters (housing) to lodge the cables. The holsters are an integral part of the unit and swivel at 90.degree. (degrees) to permit easy access. In this way, everything can be carried in one hand. Also, because the unit can be easily placed close to the engine, the cables can be much shorter than regular booster cables. It is easier to use since there are only two connections to make instead of four. Finally, the holsters, which house the booster clips protect the user from short circuits.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1994Date of Patent: December 31, 1996Assignee: Booster Pac International CorporationInventor: Luc Rozon

Patent number: 4044935Abstract: A battery lifting and carrying device comprising a rigid handle of dielectric material supporting twin parallel "U" springs inversely positioned and spacedly located within said handle, vertically over two filling wells of said battery, the open ends of said inverted U springs being opposably bent at right angles to said handle to springably enter the filling well and lock under the lower wall of the well when U spring pressure is released.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1976Date of Patent: August 30, 1977Inventor: Hugh Stephens

Patent number: 4042762Abstract: Straps are molded integrally with and hinged to opposite sides of a plastic battery case and may be swung upwardly to form a handle for enabling easy carrying of the battery. In one embodiment, the straps are formed with hand holes and are grabbed individually when the battery is carried. In another embodiment, the straps are secured together at their ends and define a bail-type handle for the battery.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 1975Date of Patent: August 16, 1977Assignee: Gould Inc.Inventor: Duane D. Patent number: 4013819Abstract: A rope holder for a battery handle rope is integral with a side of the battery case. The holder has two separate laterally spaced-apart sets of first and second passageways, the bottom opening of each passageway being unobstructed. Each passageway receives and permits passage therethrough of a length of battery handle rope having a rigid elongate lug on each end thereof. The area beneath the bottom opening of each passageway is sufficiently unobstructed to permit threading of the battery handle rope through the first and second passageways. The rigid elongate lug of the rope is secured in the upper portion of the second passageway. Upon failure of the means for securing the lug, the lug is frictionally bound in the lower portion of the second passageway because the cross-sectional area of the second passageway is less than the longitudinal length of the rigid lug. The battery handle rope is retained in the battery holder even with failure of the means for securing the lug.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1975Date of Patent: March 22, 1977Assignee: Varta Batteries LimitedInventor: Nicholas G.
