Patent number: 11856940Abstract: A moated system for repelling insects. The moated system is a two-part system including a first body having a lip extending substantially perpendicularly along a rim, wherein the rim encloses a central area. A moat channel forms the second body and extends about a lower side of the rim, wherein the moat channel can be filled with liquid to prevent ants from crawling into the central area. A filling port having a funnel is disposed through the upper side of the rim and is positioned directly over the moat channel. The funnel extends into the moat channel to prevent the moat channel from overflowing. In some embodiments, the two-part system is in a configuration of servingware or a pet dish having an interior compartment, wherein other embodiments, the two-part system is utilized along a perimeter of a tabletop to prevent insects from accessing an upper surface thereof.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2022Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Inventor: Davy Russ Bingman

Patent number: 11166440Abstract: A beehive stand has a basin which holds liquid such as oil which is covered by a baffle. However, the baffle is spaced apart from the basin such that the basin and baffle have an air gap there-between and are separate from each other. A centrally located vertical pole or support pole rises from the basin through a portal in the baffle and continues upwards to support another object such as a beehive. Multiple such beehive stands can be used to support or be different legs of a beehive, table, cabinet, appliance or other object especially one used outdoors. As there is no direct physical path directly upwards from the ground on which the stand is supported to the object there-above without an air space or oil, this prevents insects from climbing up from the ground to an object supported by the stand.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2019Date of Patent: November 9, 2021Inventor: Robert J. Publication number: 20130067796Abstract: A bed bug device to trap or stop bed bugs may include a substantially vertical back wall having a first layer of detachably connected adhesive to detachably attach to a bed, a top wall being connected to the vertical back wall to prevent a user from interfering with the operation of the bed bug device, a bottom wall being connected to the top wall, and a second adhesive being connected to the vertical back wall to trap the bed bugs. This bed bug device or a double sided adhesive tape or a slippery tape (one face is slippery and the other face is adhesive) may be stuck to a special mattress cover to generate an upside down rectangular prism box shaped bed bug device, so that bed bugs hiding anywhere in the bedroom may not be able to travel to the top of the bed.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2011Publication date: March 21, 2013Inventors: Dahai Dong, Eugene Chang, Bibo Xu

Patent number: 7793461Abstract: A simple device for use with nectar type bird feeders that effectively prevents ant and other insect contamination. In several embodiments, the device uses a disposable media that is coated with a non-drying adhesive. In application the device is either placed interposed between the nectar feeder and the feeder support or is adapted to securely fit over the feeder support. The insects (primarily ants) are prevented from contaminating the feeder as they will not cross the non-drying adhesive barrier. The replaceable adhesive media inserts and/or peel away layers can be very conveniently replaced as they become contaminated or dust covered. Alternatively (for ultimate consumer convenience) the device may be made completely disposable with the non-drying adhesive applied directly to the device interior surface(s).Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2006Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Inventor: Arnold G. Patent number: 5996531Abstract: A protective pet dish for preventing crawling insects from climbing into the pet dish. The device includes a container resting on a resting frame. The resting frame has a plurality of support legs downwardly depending therefrom. Each of the support legs has a moat cup. Each moat cup has a base and spaced apart inner and outer ring walls. The base of the moat cup has a center and an outer perimeter. The outer ring wall of the moat cup is upwardly extended around the outer perimeter of the base of the moat cup. The inner ring wall of the moat cup is upwardly extended from the base of the respective moat cup between the center of the base and the outer perimeter of the base. The inner ring wall defines a center space. The inner and outer ring walls define a moat space therebetween for holding a fluid therein. The lower end of each support leg is inserted into the center space of the associated moat cup such that the lower end of the support leg rests on the base of the moat cup.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1998Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Inventor: Frank D. Patent number: 4137584Abstract: A ground cloth mounted barrier extending around an occupant in a sleeping bag shields the occupant from reptiles and crawling insects. The barrier, being of smooth surfaced material, such as vinyl plastic, precludes a sufficient gripping surface for the insects and the reptiles to permit them to traverse the barrier. The underlying ground cloth shields against intrusion beneath the barrier or from the ground from within the barrier. A peripheral smooth surfaced section of the ground cloth extending lateral to the barrier further discourages intrusion of reptiles by providing a large span over which they cannot obtain a grip.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1977Date of Patent: February 6, 1979Inventor: Norman G.
