  • Patent number: 11534520
Abstract: A device has a container for a substance to be dispensed. A wick as a capillary element in contact with the substance in the container and forms part of the container. The wick has a wick-side substance dispensing area. A heating element produces a substance air flow, which is enriched with substance and flows away from the device, by heating the wick-side substance dispensing area and a substantially substance-free hot air flow that flows away from the device and is warmer than the substance air flow, by heating the air surrounding the heating element. A flow-guiding and/or deflecting apparatus guides and/or deflects at least one of the air flows, preferably the substance-free hot air flow, such that the air flows hit each other, preferably at a defined angle of incidence, and form a common substance-and-hot-air flow flowing away from the device.

Abstract: Fumigation systems and processes that are especially applicable for the fumigation of perishable (or otherwise sensitive to temperature) agricultural products as the temperature conditions under which the product is being treated are closely controlled to advantageously prevent the product from being exposed to temperature drops and/or spikes during the fumigation cycle. In addition, the present invention incorporates an air filtration system as a part of the fumigation system to substantially remove the toxic fumigant residuals from the air before it is exhausted into the open atmosphere, which typically occurs at the completion of a fumigation cycle. As such, the harmful effect of the fumigant on the products and the surrounding environment and work areas is greatly minimized. In summary, the systems and processes of the present invention provide the ability to conduct fumigations in a well-controlled environment.

Abstract: A method and device for metered delivery of an insecticidal liquid into a room for the purpose of repelling or killing flying insects, wherein the liquid is ejected in small quantities from a bubble-jet type liquid emanator device at an ambient temperature. The ejected droplets may also be charged to (?1×10?4 C/Kg) by passing the droplets through a static field which will cause the droplets to be attracted to the positive charge which exists across the insects cuticle. Other applications include dispensation of fragrances and air fresheners into a room.

  • Patent number: 6675528
Abstract: An apparatus for destroying mosquitoes by luring them into the apparatus where they are killed and their remains are incinerated. In order to lure the mosquitoes to the apparatus a mixture is emitted that attracts mosquitoes. The mixture contains a chemical attractant for mosquitoes that is stored in a container and metered out automatically. The mixture also contains carbon dioxide that is produced by the incineration of the mosquitoes and the chemical attractant. The apparatus includes an electric heater that heats the apparatus so that its skin temperature approximates the temperature of human skin. Once the mosquitoes are within the apparatus, a high velocity stream of recirculated air captures and carries them to a fan where they are killed and shredded. The shredded remains are incinerated to produce the carbon dioxide and to avoid the disposal of captured mosquitoes. Only a small portion of the recirculated air is emitted to the atmosphere thereby minimizing the consumption of electrical energy.

  • Patent number: 6484438
Abstract: A pest control device is provided with (1) a volatile substance holder, which includes a pest control component volatilization surface and a liquid volatilization surface, and (2) an indicator, which is composed of a wick and a bottle. The pest control component volatilization surface holds a pest control component volatile at ordinary temperature so that the pest control component can be volatilized into the air, while the liquid volatilization surface is able to hold a liquid volatile so that the liquid can be volatilized into the air. The wick is for supplying the liquid to the liquid volatilization surface of the volatile substance holder, while the bottle contains the liquid to be supplied to the liquid volatilization surface via the wick. In this manner, the indicator indicates how much the pest control component, which is volatilized from the pest control component volatilization surface is left, by showing how much the liquid is left in the bottle.

Abstract: A dispenser for scents used to attract deer and other animals includes a housing with an intake on one end and an exhaust on the other. Inside the housing is a timing circuit which controls a cyclic heater element. The heater element is positioned to transfer heat to a bottle of liquid scent. As the scent is warmed, its evaporation increases so that the vaporized scent escapes from the bottle. A low-voltage fan pulls air into the container through the inlet and blows it out the exhaust vent, carrying with it the scent vapor. A timing circuit causes the heater and fan to cycle on and off at predetermined intervals, and the timing circuit may be controlled by a wireless remote control unit.
