Abstract: A method of redirecting a track of a fishing lure on a fishing line is provided. The fishing lure has a body, a fishing lure longitudinal axis extending along a length of the body, a line tie extending outwardly from the body, and a re-positioning mechanism mounted entirely inside the body and connected to the line tie. The re-positioning mechanism is activated by the fishing line. The method includes the steps of using a fishing pole, casting the fishing lure into a body of water; while the fishing lure is in the water, reeling in the fishing lure; and moving the line tie between a first position and a second position such that only the movement of the line tie between the first position and the second position changes a direction of travel of the fishing lure while the lure is being reeled in.

  • Patent number: 6820366
Abstract: A fishing lure that is automatically adjustable in order to maintain the lure at an optimum depth in a body of water. The lure has a central processing unit, a sender/receiver, and a depth varying mechanism. In response to signals from the sender/receiver, the central processing unit sends signals to control the depth varying mechanism in order to maintain the lure at a constant distance either the bottom or the surface of the body of water.

  • Patent number: 6804909
Abstract: Vibrating fishing lures provide water dynamics to attract fish such as by increasing the amount of flashing that occurs and/or by increasing the surface ripple produced by lure vibration. A vibrating fishing lure has an elongate lure body with a cavity that houses an elongate battery and an elongate electric motor. The longitudinal axis of the lure body, battery, and motor are substantially co-linear so that activation of the electric motor causes the lure body to vibrate and to begin rotation about the longitudinal axis of the lure body. A vibrating fishing lure has an eccentrically weighted motor that lies within the surface plane of water that the lure floats upon so that then activation of the motor causes the vibration of the lure body with a maximum amplitude at the surface plane of the water to maximize surface ripple.

  • Patent number: 6789347
Abstract: A vibrating fishing lure provides a circuit board to control application of power from a battery to an electric motor within a cavity of the lure body. The circuit board includes pin receptacles that receive conductor pins of one or more of the various components to allow the components to be plugged in and frictionally fixed to the circuit board to establish electrical connection. Furthermore, the conductor pins frictionally fixed to the circuit board may be non-corrosive so that they may be exposed to the water without corroding.

  • Patent number: 6760995
Abstract: An electronic fishing device and control system. The fishing device includes an electro-mechanically actuated dive plane and rudder for steering the device in azimuth and depth by remote control or by preprogrammed instructions. In an autonomous mode, a device memory is preprogrammed with control instructions, and the device executes the instructions when placed in the water. In a remote control mode, the device is controlled by a remote control box located on a boat or shore. Preprogrammed instructions or user inputs may be utilized to steer the device. The control box may be interfaced with a fish finder to automatically generate commands to steer the device to fish detected by the fish finder.

  • Patent number: 6684556
Abstract: A remotely controlled vibrating fishing lure. The lure has a body, a transmitter, a receiver, and a battery operated vibration member controlled by the receiver. The vibrating member may be contained in a fluid tight chamber in the lure body or placed in a housing adjacent the lure body. The transmitter is operable to selectively transmit an electromagnetic radio signal to the receiver to selectively vibrate the fishing lure. A conventional transmitter and receiver may be used, and the vibration member can be of the type traditionally used in telecommunications paging systems. The lure is adapted to float or the receiver antenna is provided with a bobber or other means to retain a portion of the antenna above the water.

  • Patent number: 6622419
Abstract: A fishing lure for game fish angling has a body structure with hooks attached thereto. The lure contains a gear box with a coil spring for storing the energy of an angler's arm motion during the lure retrieve, and a gear train for transferring the stored energy to an external appendage. A metal shaft extends through the gear box and is attached to a spool and line arrangement for winding the coil spring. The lure can be repeatedly and selectively activated by the angler to impart a sustained oscillating motion to the external appendage. A rustproof metal cam pin and a resin impregnated low stretch line provide improved durability. The lure may be fitted with a translucent concave mouth to resist forward movement while providing the necessary water resistance to wind the coil spring.

  • Patent number: 6305120
Abstract: A fishing method and apparatus is provided comprising a lure module enhanced with circuitry that is capable of releasing hooks upon detection of a signal sent from a user operated, remote device enhanced with circuitry to send the signals causing hook release. The module may be provided as a lure, as a bait-holder, or as a shape-neutral module, while the signal-sending device may be a mounted or handheld device used for example in a boat. Upon determining that a irretrievable snag has occurred, the signal sending device is used to send an appropriate remote signal to the lure or module effecting hook-release rendering the lure or module free from obstruction and retrievable. The lure or module may be reset with replacement hooks for continued fishing.
