Abstract: A fishing rod organizer is disclosed. The organizer includes a pair of circular, axially detached brackets. Each bracket has a like plurality of generally radial slots. A resilient element is disposed in each slot for releasably gripping a fishing rod that extends through the slot. The brackets are axially aligned to align each slot of one of the brackets with a corresponding slot of the other bracket such that a fishing rod extended through a respective aligned pair of slots is held by the brackets. A pair of restraining straps are provided. Each selectively encircles the respective bracket and carries a first hook and loop connector on an inside surface of the restraining strap. Each bracket carries a complementary second hook and loop connector that is disposed circumferentially about the bracket.

Abstract: An improved fishing rod protector that is to be used on a two piece fishing rod with equal or unequal fishing rod section lengths, with or without a fishing reel attached. The invention is comprised of two cylinders, each open on one end and closed on the other. The cylinders are attached to each other by means of an elastic cord routed through the hollows of each cylinder and connected at the rear of each cylinder. The two piece fishing rod sections are arranged, then closely grouped and inserted into the hollows of the cylinders. The elastic cord is stretched and then returned to its undisturbed length, thus holding the two cylinders in place. A fishing reel can be attached to the rod and the fishing line can be strung on the fishing rod guides without affecting the invention. A portion of the fishing rod is exposed for viewing. When not in use, the invention stores conveniently one cylinder inside the other.

Abstract: A fishing rod holder for a boat. A plurality of spring biased spools are fixedly mounted to the boat and have retractable belts which may be pulled outwardly. The distal ends of the belts have headed members which are releasably lockable into cavities provided on the boat and spaced apart from the spools. Fishing rods may be secured to the boat by extending the belts from the spools across the fishing rods to the cavities.

Abstract: An elongated recreational device holder for holding a fishing rod, shotgun or other elongated device and its associated accessories is disclosed. The holder consists of a carrier having a number of storage compartments and attachment rings. The carrier is padded and water-resistant to protect a fishing rod, shotgun and other devices and accessories placed therein. The carrier is length adjustable to snugly carry any elongated device of any length. Once the elongated device is removed form the carrier, the carrier wraps around the waist of the user such that the user is free to move about, while at the same time having all desired accessories readily at hand.

Abstract: A fishing pole casing consists of a tubular sheath of plain or canvas backed, smooth, solid plastic sheeting with a longitudinal, stitched or welded seam, and an elastic loop; only the portion of the rod ahead of the reel is inserted into the sheath and the elastic loop engages the reel of the pole to urge the rod into the sheath.

Abstract: A fishing reel cover for covering a fishing reel including a first side member, a second side member, and a rotatable spool extending between the first and second side members with each of the first and second side members having an outer perimeter wall. The fishing reel cover includes a flexible body member for extending around the outer perimeter walls of the first and second side members of the fishing reel and for covering the rotatable spool of the fishing reel.

Abstract: A fishing rod case formed from an elongated, cylindrical tube with opposed open ends is divided into longitudinal segments, by a continuous hinge and a cut offset therefrom. The cut has a tongue and a groove extending fully along opposing edges thereof for mating when the tube is closed about the hinge. Straps mounted on an exterior surface of the tube hold the tube in this closed condition. When so mated, the tongue and groove cannot disengage even if pressure is placed on the tube surface. Resiliently compressible retainers are arranged in spaced apart opposing pairs within the tube. Each of the retainers is contoured to fit snugly in its respective tube segment. An upper portion of the retainer extends beyond the diametric dividing plane. Each retainer has several slits therein longitudinally aligned with the tube and with corresponding ones of the slits in corresponding ones of the pairs of segments.

Abstract: This invention provides a rigid, floating, carrying case for a fly fishing reel mounted on a fly fishing rod. The case has a tubular main body and features a hinged, end door for access to the rod and reel. The door can be closed to render airtight the end of the case. The case will then float indefinitely, with the airtight end bobbing visibly out of the water. The end door contains a small fly tackle compartment. A set of plastic rod clips, each rod clip comprising a plurality of branched clips of varied diameters, enables sections of a fly fishing rod to be clipped together alongside each other to fit into the case.

Abstract: A carrying and storage case for fishing rods with attached reels and accessories is disclosed. The case is comprised of a durable fabric substantially rectangular in shape, the case has a plurality of adjacent elongate pockets which extend from one end of the case to the other end with the opening for each sequential pocket located on alternating ends of the case. The pockets are widest at the opening and narrow towards the opposite end of the pocket. The pocket and openings are sized to permit insertion of a fishing rod with attached reel into the pocket. Flaps on each end of the case fold over the openings of the pockets. The case has a plurality of straps with interlocking fabric extending from the top of the case whereby the case may be rolled up and secured by the straps in the rolled-up position with rods and attached reels in the pockets. The case has a handle and/or shoulder strap for carrying.

Abstract: The invention is a soft sided carrying case for fishing poles. The case has a handle made out of polypropolene webbing and a zipper for opening and closing. The case on the inside has straps or tie downs for holding the fishing poles in place. These straps or tie downs are fasten permanently on one end and on the other end have a releasably fastener such as velcro, buttons or snaps. The fishing poles are placed in the case and the tie downs are ran over 7 the fishing poles and are fasten down by the releasable fastener. In the preferred embodiment the inter and outer covering of the case is nylon. Foam is placed between the inter and outer covering of the case. To provide stiffness to a case a masonite board is also added to the foam and stuffing between the inter and outer covering on the top and bottom of the case.

Abstract: Fishing tackle covers are useful separately or together: Fishing rod cover has a see-through pliable perforate sleeve with a closure flap. A fishing rod and reel assembly can be inserted into and removed from it repeatedly. Fishing rods can be protected from contact with other rods without the need for disassembly of rod, reel, line and even attached lure or hook. The rod cover keeps fishing lines from tangling, especially when used with other covers of the invention; it permits quick visual identification and rapid removal of the assembled rod combination ready for fishing; it facilitates drying out of any wet equipment it may cover, and it may be rolled up and kept that way easily for convenient stowage. For example, the rod cover may be made to primarily incorporate a fiberglass screen in its sleeve and closure flap. As well, fishing hook/lure cover is a purse having a panel set.

Abstract: A telescoping fishing rod assembly includes an elongated tubular handle for compact storage of the telescoping rod sections with the line guides on the sections protruding from one end, and a removable cap member is placed over the line guides to protect against damage. The rod sections are removably connectable to either end of the handle so that the assembly can be interchangeably used as a fly rod or spin-casting rod.

Abstract: A rod-mountable fishing tackle holder is formed as a unitary body with a hollow cylindrical passage formed longitudinally therein for holding lures and an axial slit formed in the body for retaining fishing tackle or allowing passage of fishing line therethrough. A cylindrical handle of a fishing rod fits into the cylindrical passage of the tackle holder. Attached to the main body of the tackle holder may be one or more resilient clips for alternatively attaching the tackle holder to the rod shaft. Alternatively, the holder may be integrally formed with the rod handle.

Abstract: A carrying case for a fishing rod and reel comprises an elongate hollow tube that is closed at its first end and is adapted to receive a fishing rod therein from its open, second end. A reel receiving chamber is attached to the open, second end of the tube. The chamber has opposite sides, a closed top and a forward wall. An opening is provided in the forward wall of the chamber, with the opening being in alignment with the open end of the tube. The rearward end of the chamber is open such that a rod and an attached reel can be received through the open rearward end to position the rod in the tube and the reel in the chamber. A closure member fits against and closes the open rearward end of the chamber, with the closure member being pivotally connected to the sides of the chamber so that the closure member can be pivoted downwardly beneath the chamber to expose the open rearward end of the chamber.

Abstract: An improved carrier strap assembly for carrying a plurality of fishing rods and reels includes a first elongate strap or spine member having opposed adjustable size loops at each end thereof. A second strap means is mounted perpendicularly to said first strap means and slidably therealong the one of the opposed end loops. A third strap means is mounted slidably along the first strap means between the two end loops. Both the second and third strap means are fitted with hook and loop fasteners provided for selectably releasable engagement of one side of the strap means to the other side thereof. In the operation, the bottom loop on the first strap is enlarged until it fits around the fishing rod handles under the reels and then is cinched up until snug. At the opposite end of the first strap, the top loop on the first strap is adjusted in size until the second strap is positioned to extend around the upper end of the fishing poles under the first full eyelet on the rod.

Abstract: A portable, collapsible ice fishing device includes a monolithic frame that has a seat section and a storage section and is adapted to be straddled. The storage section has two doors on which ice fishing reel elements, bobber elements and line brake elements are mounted. The doors are pivotably mounted and are adapted to swing from a downward direction to an upright position. The doors are held in the upright position by a rod. The device also includes peg and peg receiving holes in the reel elements for "remembering" the amount of fishing line fed off of the reel elements.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a protective cover for a fishing rod which includes a conformable, expandable, elongated and woven plastic sleeve having an open end and a closed end which has been fused together in the flat position. A tag is folded over the top end and a grommet-like member inserted through the top end and tag to form an eyelet for hanging the cover and rod encased therein. A method of forming the protective fishing rod cover is disclosed. This type of cover is suitable for covering a rod to be used when selected for use and for storing said rod. A hook is secured to the tag so as to grasp the cover and permit storage in a rolled and closed configuration.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a fishing reel protector. In one embodiment a reel protector according to the present invention has a plurality of pockets and a flexible and/or extensible connecting member extending between the pockets. The reel protector is made from a flexible material such as cloth, flexible woven or non-woven material, or flexible synthetic material. In one embodiment the pockets of a reel protector according to the invention are disposed about a common mouth which may have an elastic band encircling it to facilitate the securement of the reel protector on a reel. Pockets can be provided to encompass two or more reel parts such as the front of a reel, a reel handle, or the rear of a reel. Since the pockets are made of flexible material, a single reel protector can accommodate a variety of different reels.

Abstract: A combined fishing rod holder, carrier and storage apparatus comprising a body of buoyant material having a plurality of parallel tubular conduits extending therethrough each of which is specially formed to accommodate one complete fishing rod and reel combination in a readily accessible manner while offering maximum protection against damage. Removable protective covers for each end, rod retaining means and means for mounting the apparatus to a boat are also provided.

Abstract: A fishing accessory container is shown which includes a flexible outer bag having a left and right halves which meet along a peripheral edge. A zipper joins the left and right halves along the peripheral edge to define a closed interior for the bag. A plurality of removable inserts are located within the bag interior and can be unzipped and removed from the bag interior to allow the user to select only needed equipment to be carried on a particular occasion.

Abstract: A fishing line holder which cuts a fishing line removing a fishing lure and engages the fishing line leading to the rod and reel. The fishing line holder also forms a cavity so that when the fishing line is reeled in, the tip of the fishing rod is accepted into the fishing line holder so that the tip of the rod is protected. In this position, the fishing line is also held tight so that it will not become entangled during storage.

Abstract: A carrying case for one or two assembled fishing rods and reels which includes a pair of pouches of flexible material which are connected along an extended mid-seam with each pouch having oppositely oriented carrying handles and an opening through which the end of a rod and the reel is selectively received and which openings are closable around the rods by interengagable surface closures. The sock includes a waterproof outer sleeve joined to a soft inner sleeve of non-abrasive padded material. Constricting tapes which may be closed by a closure of the hook-and-loop variety are sewn into the outer sleeve at either end so that the sock may be fastened about the bundle enclosing the reel within.

A plurality of notches (48a, 50a, 52a, 54a) and (48b, 50b, 52b and 54b) are formed in the outer margins of brackets (44a) and (44b) respectively. A rigid, outer, split band (56) slidably rides within an outer groove (58) extending around the periphery of brackets (44a) and (44b) to extend across the openings of notches (48a-54a) and (48b-54b). The opening of outer band (56) may be aligned with the notches (48a-54a) and (48b-54b) to provide access to the notches when placing fishing equipment therein or removing fishing equipment therefrom.

Also a tackle box means is provided as is a cutting board area along with built-in rod holders to meet all of the basic needs of the fisherman which ordinarily requires a multiplicity of various and sundry pieces of equipment to accomplish the same result.

The material is cut into an elongated, symmetrical, quadrilateral shape. The material is folded about its axis of symmetry, forming a top edge, an elongated side edge, and a shorter bottom edge. The elongated side edges are placed over one another and sewn together along the entire length; similarly, the bottom edges which overlap are sewn together along their entire length. A first strip having a hook-and-eye type fastener structure is attached to the sheet portion at a point somewhat below the top edge and located at the center of the sheet, and is sewn into place along its edges with the gripping side of the strip exposed. A second hook-and-eye type fastener strip, of identical width, is attached to the top of the underlying sheet at its center with a portion of the strip exposed.

The apparatus includes a handle so that the carrier including the rods and reels can be carried as a unit. The apparatus also includes a top section connected by hinges to a bottom section. The rod portion passes through the first set of front apertures and the butt portion of the rod and reel combination passes through the second set of rear apertures. A cushion inside of the bottom section supports the reels. The apparatus is attached to the top of an automobile by means of adjustable gutter mounts. The device permits the user to store rods and reels in the "ready to go" state. Moreover, the entire unit may be removed from the automobile and carried to the fishing site conveniently.

A pair of opposed cup shaped reel enclosing halves extend from the body as a continuation thereof and terminate in peripheral engaging flanges which are secured together.

Abstract: A display package for a combination fishing rod and reel assembly has a back support member, a front transparent member having a cavity substantially conforming to the configuration of the reel and adapted to be secured to the back member to form a display enclosure for the reel. In addition, the back member has U-shaped groove extending the full length thereof to reinforce the back member and also to receive the portion of the rod to which the reel is mounted, in order that the enclosure can be sealed closely. The result is a display package which completely encloses and contains the reel while it is mounted on the rod, to restrain pilferage and unauthorized tampering with the reel while the rod and reel assembly are on display. The handle and the free end of the rod extend outside the package to minimize the required package size.A reinforcing rib is provided transverse to the U-shaped groove to further reinforce the package against pilferage.

Abstract: An elongate carrying case for fishing rods and the like including upper and lower covers hinged together along their lengths by a hinge member which permits relative pivoting movement of either cover about two separate parallel axes. Protective end caps prevent endwise movement of the covers relative to each other and also align the front and rear cover walls to permit proper closure of the case. The hinge member is formed with a pair of parallel cylindrical bearing sections separated by a flat, relatively thin web section. The rear walls of the upper and lower covers terminate in cylindrical bearing sockets with facing slotted openings in which the cylindrical bearing sections of the hinge member are pivotally seated.

Abstract: A tubular case for a fishing rod which is formed from braided or pseudo-braided plastic filaments of an open, expandable weave, one end of the case being closed and provided with a loop member for facilitating the hanging thereof. The opposite end of the tubular case preferably has a flared opening to facilitate the insertion therein of the small, upper end of a fishing rod and its line guide. As the rod is forced into the sleeve, the sleeve expands so as to conform generally to the shape of the rod and its protuberances, i.e., line guides, bobbers, sinkers, and the like.

Abstract: A fishing rod tip guard comprising a plastic case with a hinged top into which the tip is placed in an interior slot and the top closed and fastened. The slot prevents the guard from slipping off the tip. There is also room in the guard for the hook or lures that are attached to the line. A modification of the guard makes it useful as a bobber also.

The carrying case is particularly suited for transporting and storing a fishing rod and reel, and is comprised of two plastic members which may be interlocked by a snap fit. The method of manufacture includes extruding a tube of thermoplastic material between the opened sections of a blow mold, closing the molds, and inflating the tube to a blown product conforming to the shape of the internal mold cavity.

Abstract: A portable fishing rod storage and support apparatus generally comprised of a hinged, two-piece foldable support platform having clip members connected thereto for removably holding a fishing rod and reel assembly. In one mode, the two-piece support platform may be placed in an unfolded, planar position and suspended from a wall for storing or displaying a multi-section fishing rod and reel assembly. In another mode, the two-piece support platform may be placed in a folded, angular position and anchored to the ground via staking assemblies, along side a body of water, for holding an assembled fishing rod and reel assembly at a predetermined angle in relation to the water. Elongated compartments run parallel to the length of the rectangular body portion and are adapted to hold the greater portion of a fishing rod. A bottom portion is connected to the end of the bottom layer adjacent the compartment open end. A pair of side flaps are attached to and extend laterally in opposite directions from the bottom portion. The end portion is connected to the other end of the bottom portion and is folded longitudinally over the folded flaps.
