The flexible strip is perforable for perforation by a fishhook. An O-ring elastically stretches to receive the first end and the second end simultaneously when the flexible strip is in the wrapped position. The O-ring exerts an elastic force such that the flexible strip is retained in the wrapped position.

The second stretchable end defines an opening into the sleeve, wherein the second stretchable end is stretchable between an open state to receive the bait within the sleeve and a substantially closed state to secure the bait within the sleeve. The bait sleeve also includes a shape-defining frame connected to the sleeve, the shape-defining frame extending between the first end and the second stretchable end. The bait sleeve also includes at least one fishing hook. Advantageously, the frame prevents excessive compression of the bait by the sleeve.

Abstract: An apparatus for accurately cutting baitfish at a compound miter angle of forty five degrees. The apparatus automatically centers the bait fish within a transverse well at the bottom of a half pipe tube capable of accommodating various common bait fish sizes. The compound miter cut provided by this apparatus exactly matches the compound miter found within the construction of the Sure Spin Herring Helmet® Angler Innovations. The present apparatus is easily washable and leaves no trace of fish scent between uses as it is constructed from non-absorbing high density polyethylene (HPDE). The apparatus further provides safe usage as downward pressure is applied to the cutting tool and bait fish as the cutting tool blade enters the blade slot groove. The dispenser includes a housing having a portion that is hollow; and a reservoir for containing a fish attracting liquid defined in the hollow portion of the housing and including a wall in common with the housing. The wall in common with the reservoir and the housing have at least one hole in communication with the housing exterior. An elongated plunger mounted in the reservoir has a portion extending outside the housing and the plunger has a piston fixed thereto intermediate its ends with a first face of the piston for contacting the fish attracting liquid in the reservoir and a second face for contacting the wall in common with the reservoir. The aperture has a diameter that is larger than a thickness of the line and smaller than a width of the fixture, which is attached to the line. The line passes through the aperture so that when the fishing rig is pulled through water, the fixture is positioned inside the conical diverter and prevents the narrow end of the conical diverter from traversing the line toward the hooking device beyond the fixture, thereby allowing the conical diverter to be pulled through the water ahead of and spaced from the hooking device.

Energy-absorbing ballast can be positioned within the nose cap in order to further enhance survivability.

Upon impact of the apparatus with the water, the sinker continues due to inertia pulling the leader, fishing hook, and bait out of the cavity allowing them to sink into the water.

Abstract: A fish bait protector for protecting baited fishing hooks from disturbance as the hooks are lowered within a body of water. As the baited fishing hooks are lowered within the body of water, the hooks are surrounded by a protective enclosure of the fish bait protector to prevent upper and middle depth fish from disturbing the bait. When the fish bait protector reaches a desired fishing depth such as the fishing depth at a bottom surface of the body of water, a release mechanism such as a spring latch of the fish bait protector may be used to pull the hooks up and out of the protective enclosure. The lure insert is insertable within the insert cavity of the lure head with the fishing line extending through the front aperture of the lure head and with the locking aperture cooperating with the locking pin for interlocking the lure insert to the lure head. A restraining device is secured to the lure insert for restraining the movement of the fishing line relative thereto.

Abstract: A variety of fish habitat structures are provided for simulating a natural aquatic environment. A first structure is in the form of a horizonatally extending tube made from plastic mesh. A pair of concrete cinder blocks is placed in the opposite open ends of the tube to weight the tube so that it remains on the floor of the environment. The clearance between the tops of the blocks and the circumference of the tube is sufficient to allow spawning bass to enter the tube while keeping out larger predatory species of fish. A second structure is in the form of a pyramid-shaped stack of solid tubes, each of which is closed at one end and open at the other. The diameter of the tubes is selected to accommodate spawning catfish. A third structure, which simulates a brush pile, is a mesh tube, similar to the first structure, turned on one end so that its longitudinal axis extends vertically. A cinder block at the bottom end of the tube prevents it from going adrift.

The inserts are likewise variable in size and shape but are substantially of a shape to conform to inner surfaces of the hollow body and end cap.

The Y-shaped lead extension guides alignment of the hooks into positions flanking the opposite sides of the bait fish.

Abstract: A fishing device useful for casting and trolling includes an elongated buoyant plug type artificial fishing lure mounted to a bait harness adapted to hold a fish bait, filet or strip of fish bait. The jaws are normally closed with the prongs in overlapping position. When the jaws are opened, the rod is swingable on its pivot point to be perpendicular to the lure to facilitate its being impaled or skewered lengthwise through the fish bait from the head to protrude from the tail thereof.
