Patent number: 10021865Abstract: A trolling weight is designed to sink while minimizing drag. The trolling weight has a forward bulb arranged as a paraboloid configured to reduce the drag while the trolling weight is moving. The forward bulb truncates to a rearward portion. A first stabilizing fin is attached to the forward bulb and further comprising a first smooth parabolic planar portion which convex from a first apex that connects the forward bulb and the rearward portion. An internal spine is attached to the first stabilizing fin, and further comprising a plurality of upper attachment holes configured to connect cables to pull the trolling weight forward. A tail fin is attached to the internal spine by a plurality of connectors embedded within the forward bulb and arranged rearward of the rearward portion of the forward bulb and further comprising a plurality of rear attachment holes for attaching accessories.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2016Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Inventors: Charles D. Patent number: 8424237Abstract: An angling rig comprises a pebble of natural stone and, secured to the pebble, an attachment ring for attaching the pebble to a fishing line. The attachment ring is secured to the pebble by means of a swivel bonded by epoxy resin adhesive in a bore formed in the pebble. The invention provides an alternative to a lead weight which is non-toxic (and therefore ecologically desirable) and also of natural form (and therefore not perceived as threatening by fish), whereby anglers may both help the environment and expect better catches.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2011Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Inventor: Simon Alexander Pomeroy

Patent number: 8037636Abstract: A bottom snagging sinker kit includes a retaining ring, a series of anchor wires and a nose. Rather than manufacture a wide range of specially designed sinkers having weights of different size, a bottom snagging sinker is assembled from the kit by using a standard sinker weight of the type having a passage therethrough. A fisherman or other person may assemble the sinker by connecting the retaining ring to the sinker weight with a connector, such as a cotter pin. The anchor wires are assembled to the nose or between the nose and the retaining ring. The nose is then attached to the retaining ring. When the sinker is cast into water, the sinker descends to the bottom where the anchor wires are aimed generally at the fisherman to minimize movement of the sinker. When the fisherman pulls on the fishing line, the anchor wires deflect to a position allowing easy retrieval of the sinker.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2009Date of Patent: October 18, 2011Inventor: Nicholas C. Meyer

Patent number: 7621072Abstract: A number of stackable weights can be bundled together and secured with a lashing to form a modular sinker of a desired weight. Each stackable weight has an elongated bar bounded by four side surfaces and having a fixed eye. A link member is movably attached to the fixed eye and terminates in a coupling eye. The link member provides a degree of motion between the coupling eye and the fixed eye of the bar, allowing the coupling eyes of multiple stackable weights to be connected together to a single fastener while the bars are positioned together in a side-by-side relationship. When so connected, the link members form a pyramid-shaped coupling structure that will reduce the likelihood of snagging the resulting modular sinker. The bars preferably have textured side surfaces to frictionally engage each other to maintain the bars parallel and to retain an elastic band that provides the lashing.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2007Date of Patent: November 24, 2009Inventor: Bernard P. Patent number: 7340858Abstract: A fishing sinker is comprised of a polyhedron body having a rectangular base and triangular sides with a common blunt vertex, adapted to generate a net upward lifting force during forward motion. The streamlined shape of the sinker also makes it more aerodynamic during casting and minimizes splashing during entry into water. A central channel is formed in the body for receiving an eyelet pin with a swaged end, a straight section extending through said central channel and an integrally formed eyelet portion protruding from the blunt vertex. A plurality of symmetrically arranged stabilizer fins extending along angles of intersection of each adjacent triangular side. The eyelet portion is a resilient eyelet with a slip-on opening biased into a closed position. The vertex makes the sinker quite aerodynamic, as it leads the way on casts through the air and into the water.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2004Date of Patent: March 11, 2008Assignee: I.Q. Patent number: 7257921Abstract: A banana shaped weight has a connecting eyelet on a forward end of a top side to which a line is attached to the decoy and a wider tongue member extending from a bottom side beneath the connecting eyelet. A reinforcing rib reacts any forces the tongue member may experience as it digs into the soil beneath the water into the central portion of the body of the weight to resist possible bending or breakage of the tongue.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2006Date of Patent: August 21, 2007Inventor: Paul F. Patent number: 6622420Abstract: A cylindrical or ball shaped roller weight rotatably mounted on a cross piece of a U-shaped portion of a wire frame with the free ends of the opposed arms of the U-shaped portion terminating in two arm extensions intersecting at an apex in an angle of approximately 90 degrees. At the intersection of the two arm extensions, an optional swivel may be included between the intersecting arm extensions and include an eyelet for connection to a fishing line. The optional swivel facilitates twisting and turning motion of the roller weight as it encounters an uneven terrain along the bottom surface of the body of water.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2002Date of Patent: September 23, 2003Inventor: Craig L.
