    Abstract: The present improved animal trap and unique catch release mechanism eliminates substantial eating or removal of the bait without the trap activating and provides a dual means to activate the trap. This is accomplished by the present catch release mechanism having a sliding member which slides within a hole through the platform of the trap under the influence of gravity and a prop which holds at least a portion of the trap platform above a support surface. When the prop is destabilized by an external force, the prop's support of the platform is disturbed, permitting the platform to fall toward the support surface. The platform falls relative to the sliding member; and the sliding member is forced toward the catch by contact with the support surface, thus pushing the catch so that the catch releases the holding arm bar to activate the trap.

The system provides a powered door using a door spring arming assembly having compression springs and spring slides situated on door supports. With the door open, the spring slides compress the compression springs and engage a door spring stop to bias the door toward a closed position. The door is spring loaded so that when a support mechanism with trigger is operated to release a catch assembly, the door rapidly closes. The catch assembly includes a spring to bias the catch arm to position for locking the door once closed. The support mechanism may be situated to operate multiple doors using the system.

    Abstract: A T-shaped animal trap having entry ports and sliding doors at opposite ends of its head portion and a platform resting on a dowel in its leg portion. A magnet is on each end of the dowel outside of the trap which can magnetically hold to each magnet a flexible metal wire when the entry ports are open, which wire extends into the head portion and is attached to one sliding door. When the platform is moved over the dowel, the dowel partially rotates and the wires are released from the magnets, thereby permitting the sliding doors to close the entry ports. Atlernatively, the animal trap may be tunned shaped with entry ports and sliding doors at opposite ends and a platform resting on a dowel near the middle of the tunnel.

When an animal steps on the lower rim of the trigger, its weight will cause the trigger to drop, thus causing movement of both latches and the simultaneous closing of both doors. Each pair of arms merges at its rear ends with a coil spring portion which strongly biases the two arms of each pair together.     Abstract: An animal trap wherein the housing is formed of sheet metal and the trap door is of a mesh construction wherein the animal can in no way gain access to one carrying the trap or one disposed adjacent to the trap. At the same time, the animal may be identified through the open-mesh trap door. The trap door is normally disposed in a recessed position underlying the vertical wall; and, when released by a control mechanism actuated by a trap pan, the door will automatically fall by gravity to a trap-closing position. The door is then locked in this trap-closing position by means of a latch rod which has a roughened or threaded surface which interlocks with a clip. The housing, being formed of sheet metal and being substantially imperforate, may be utilized for the purpose of destroying the animal either by drowning or gassing.
