Automatic Catch Patents (Class 43/83)
  • Patent number: 11819018
Abstract: A rodent trap is disclosed comprising a base and a kill bar, wherein the kill bar is pivotably connected to the base, a trigger member pivotably connected to the base and arranged between the base and the kill bar such that when the trigger member is activated the kill bar is released and traps or kills a rodent, the rodent trap further comprises a sensor configured to detect at least three different distances between the trigger member and the base. A rodent trap system is disclosed and a related method for determining a ready state, a sprung empty state and a caught state of a rodent trap.

  • Patent number: 10080358
Abstract: An animal trap has a fixed jaw that serves as a base, and an opposed moveable jaw that operatively closes down upon the base. A trigger is provided between the base and moveable jaw. A bait holder is provided within the moveable jaw, most preferably at a location that requires a rodent or other animal to step upon the trigger while both raising their head and twisting their neck to try to reach the bait. The trigger may be covered with a set of posts that are sized and spaced from each other to prohibit any flat placement of paws onto the trigger, thereby forcing the animal to grasp the post tops, while allowing a paw to slip between and potentially be trapped by adjacent posts if the animal tries to move suddenly.

  • Patent number: 8490323
Abstract: A trap with a housing having a first wall, an entrance, and a base; a latch mechanism coupled with the base; a pivoting platform pivotally coupled with the housing adjacent a juncture of the base and first wall and adapted to releasably engage with the latch mechanism; and a trigger plate assembly including a first trigger plate and a second trigger plate that are pivotally coupled with the pivoting platform. The first trigger plate is operably coupled with the latch mechanism and the second trigger plate is operably coupled with the first trigger plate. When the trap is triggered by an animal, the pivoting platform disengages from the latch mechanism and the pivoting platform and trigger plate assembly pivot toward the first wall of the housing, moving the rodent toward the first wall of the housing and trapping the rodent between the trigger plate assembly and the first wall of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6415544
Abstract: A plastic jaw or striker with downwardly facing teeth is pivotally mounted to a plastic base with mating upwardly facing teeth. A plastic trigger hangs from the base, and a coil spring extends between the jaw and the base rearward of the trigger. The spring holds the jaw in the set position, by engaging the rear of the jaw against the rear of the base. The trap is tuned to be not overly sensitive, avoiding springing of the trap by vibrations or insubstantial rodent entry. The spring or tension axis does not go through the trigger, simplifying construction and arrangement of parts. The open position is limited by the jaw engaging the base. The jaw is just over-center when set, such that a small movement towards closure does not trigger it. The trigger requires fairly large movement, facilitated by the raised pivot axis, to trigger the trap.

  • Patent number: 5337512
Abstract: An inexpensive rodent trap (10) is provided which may be set and emptied without a user contacting the trap (10) near a striker portion (36) of the trap (10). The trap (10) is effective for trapping a rodent (8) without bait since the trap (10) is configured such that the rodent (8) will enter the trap (10) as the rodent (8) moves along a floor (26) near a wall (14).

  • Patent number: 5172512
Abstract: A trap for catching mice and rats includes a standard mousetrap mounted within a two-part housing. The standard mousetrap includes a tab which projects through a slot an arcuate upper wall of one portion of the housing, allowing one to cock the trap from the exterior of the housing. The first portion of the housing is pivoted to the second portion of the housing so that the housing can be conveniently opened to dispose of a mouse or rat caught in the trap. The housing shields the cocked trap so as to enhance the safety thereof while allowing one to empty the trap without running the risk of touching the mouse or rat caught therein.

  • Patent number: 5148624
Abstract: An improved mousetrap is provided featuring a handle that is remote from the trapping mechanism so that the mousetrap may be set for use without endangering one's hands or fingers. The mousetrap includes a cover that serves a fourfold function of protecting humans from the trapping mechanism, shielding captured animals from sight, defining a single deadly pathway for an animal to advance upon bait on the mousetrap, and providing decorative indicia. The handle protrudes from the cover which encloses a spring-biased jaw frame, trigger, and catch member of the mousetrap. The jaw frame is pivotally mounted to a base such that the jaw frame pivots between a cocked position, whereat the catch member retains the jaw frame in an orientation perpendicular to the base, and a shut position. Movement of the trigger by an animal causes the catch member to release the jaw frame so that the mousetrap snaps shut.

  • Patent number: 4607450
Abstract: An enclosed mousetrap (10) has a trap mechanism (12) mounted on a back wall member (26) and having a bail wire (36) with a straight portion (42) that engages a downwardly projecting detent projection (66) of a catching member (58) in a line contact relationship to ensure effective operation of the enclosed mousetrap. The detent projection (66) is preferably stamped from sheet metal to include a lower surface (102) defined by a front ramp portion (104), a rear detent portion (106), and a lower curved portion (108) that extends between the ramp portion and the detent portion. The lower detent surface (102) preferably has a constantly increasing width in a rearward direction to provide the greatest length of line contact with the bail wire portion (42) in the cocked position to thereby provide frictional capability in holding the trap mechanism cocked.

  • Patent number: 4341033
Abstract: The present invention is an improved releasing and resetting mechanism for use in a rat trap which includes a rectangular shell having a top, a bottom, a pair of sides, a back and an entrance opening. The releasing and resetting mechanism includes a trapping mechanism which is pivotally attached to the top of the rectangular shell and disposed within the rectangular shell so that it is parallel to the top of the rectangular shell when the trapping mechanism is in its set position and so that the trapping mechanism contacts the bottom of the rectangular shell when it has been triggered. The releasing and resetting mechanism also includes a spring which is biased between the trapping mechanism and the top of the rectangular shell downwardly biasing the trapping mechanism toward the bottom of the rectangular shell and a plastic band with a plurality of parallelly disposed teeth which is mechanically coupled to the trapping means.
