Abstract: Photographic elements, film units and processes are described wherein certain ballasted di-2,5-sulfonamidophenols are used to scavenge oxidized electron transfer agents in color image transfer materials. The scavenger compounds can be located in an emulsion layer, a dye image-providing material layer or an interlayer.
Abstract: Photographic elements, diffusion transfer assemblages and processes are described which employ a novel nondiffusible compound having a releasable 6-arylazo-2-amino-3-pyridinol dye moiety or precursor thereof. The compound contains in the ortho position of the arylazo moiety a ballasted carrier moiety attached thereto either through a sulfonamido linking group or through the oxygen of a ##STR1## which said ballasted carrier moiety contains, the ballasted carrier moiety being capable of releasing the diffusible 6-arylazo-2-amino-3-pyridinol dye or precursor thereof under alkaline conditions. The dye is transferred imagewise to an image-receiving layer, where it is contacted with metal ions to form a metal-complexed 6-arylazo-2-amino-3-pyridinol dye transfer image of excellent stability.
Abstract: A method of spectrally sensitizing a photographic light-sensitive emulsion where a water-soluble solution, prepared by dissolving a methine dye having at least one water-soluble group in water in the presence of a "Red Shift Compound", as hereinafter defined, is added to a photographic light-sensitive emulsion to provide a photographic light-sensitive emulsion spectrally sensitized with increased sensitizing efficiency and with reduced fog. The disadvantages caused by the use of high organic solvent contents are avoided and photographic light-sensitive emulsions suitable for high-speed coating are obtained.
Abstract: The present invention provides a new process for the production of masked subtractive positive color images by the silver dye bleach process, which comprises the steps of exposure, silver developing, dye-bleaching, silver-bleaching and fixing.

Abstract: Color photographic elements containing silver halide and incorporated color-forming materials are described. These elements contain at least two differentially light-sensitive emulsion layers, the overlying layer being sensitive to the relatively shorter wavelengths and containing at least one yellow dye-forming color coupler which has the unusual ability to inhibit the reaction of competing couplers (such as citrazinic acid, for example) when competing couplers are used in color developing solutions in the conventional manner. Use of these couplers in the overlying (color) layer of multi-layer color photographic elements makes it possible to produce colored images having improved graininess.Couplers having this unusual capability are selected from those having the .[.structures.]. .Iadd.structure .Iaddend. ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, .Iadd.and .Iaddend.R.sub.2 .[.and R.sub.3 .]. are as defined herein.
