    Abstract: A gas cigarette lighter for igniting a liquified gas fed out of the combustion valve by applying electric sparks thereto which are generated by the discharge circuit connected to a secondary cell is provided with a solar cell as a supplementary electric source for the secondary cell. The solar cell can be inserted into the lighter casing without increasing the volume of the latter, and the secondary cell can be charged not only with light from the sun but also with light from a fluorescent lamp.

    Abstract: A flame height limiting device for gas lighters is disclosed including a noncompressible permeable element (plug) through which the gas passes. This element is encased within a sleeve which is in contact only with materials of low thermal conductivity, but the permeable element and the sleeve are of high thermal conductivity. The plug is of non-uniform permeability and is oriented so that the permeability increases in the downstream direction of gas flow.

    Abstract: An adjustment device for liquefied gas lighters is disclosed, which allows precise automated setting of maximum and minimum permitted flame heights during the assembly of lighters which have a rotatable valve adjustment member extending from a valve well in the lighter. Fixed stop means are provided on the lighter. An adjustment mechanism rotates with the valve adjustment member and after adjustment of the flame height, movable stop means are formed in the adjustment mechanism in positions chosen such that the movable stop means can abut the fixed stop means at positions of the adjustment mechanism corresponding to maximum and minimum flame height, respectively.
