Patent number: 5944505Abstract: A candle holder has candles mounted at each end of a pivoting balance arm. A snuffer is located above each candle. When the balance arm is balanced and one of the candles is lit then the lit candle will become lighter as fuel is consumed by combustion at its wick. When this happens the balance arm pivots so that the end of the balance arm bearing the lit candle rises. This continues until the lit candle is raised to a location at which it is extinguished by one of the snuffers. After the candle has been extinguished then the second candle may be lit. The candle holder prevents candles from continuing to burn for extended periods of time. The candle holder is interesting to watch in operation.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1998Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Assignee: Kroecher Designs Inc.Inventor: Andre Kroecher

Patent number: 4878833Abstract: Disclosed is an improved gaslighter structure which has a detachable support piece to be fitted in the cap and the housing for pivotally fixing the cap to the housing. This arrangement permits complete pivotal connection of the cap to the housing simply by thrusting the upper extension of the support piece into the rear end space of the cap and by thrusting the lower end of the support piece into the rear top inside of the housing until its opposite pivot pins are fitted in the counter sinks on the rear top inside of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1989Date of Patent: November 7, 1989Assignee: Tokai CorporationInventor: Tomio Nitta

Patent number: 4878834Abstract: Disclosed is an improvement of gaslighter structure which has, in the hollow cylinder space at the rear portion of the housing, a push rod having hooks integrally connected to its opposite sides. The push rod is spring-biased upwards, and is pushed against the support piece of the cap, thereby permitting the cap to click shut and open. This arrangement permits necessary parts including a spring to be assembled in a cap pivot-and-latch simply by thrusting them in the rear space of the housing. This reduces the difficulty which otherwise, workers would encounter in assembling parts including a resilient element in a relatively small space. Also, the work of pivoting the cap to the housing can be advantageously separated from the work of assembling pivot-and-latch parts.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1989Date of Patent: November 7, 1989Assignee: Tokai CorporationInventor: Tomio Nitta

Patent number: 4838781Abstract: A burner unit holding simulated logs and particularly adapted for the burning of unvented containerized fuels is described which provides for easy ignition and replacement of fuel containers and controlling the burning rate of fuel. Into a support stand is mounted a pivotable grate containing a fuel cell housing at the rear portion thereof. By tilting the grate forwardly cans of fuel in the housing are easily exposed for replacement or ignition. Damper lid means are slidably contained in an assembly above the fuel cell housing to cover and extinguish the flame of ignited fuel containers. The damper lid is contained by guide tabs in slots which allows the damper lid to be moved to partially cover the fuel containers to dampen and control the burning rate. When the damper lid is fully open it rotates in the slot to a vertical position behind the fuel cell housing. The rotation of the damper lid from horizontal to vertical position requires only minimal space behind the burner unit.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1988Date of Patent: June 13, 1989Inventor: Erwin C. Fischer
