  • Patent number: 11445751
Abstract: A portable smoking storage case for storing and using a substance for recreational or medical use is disclosed. The case comprises a body and a lid attached to a side of the body. Located within the body are a built-in rechargeable battery to power a built-in lighter that is connected to a control unit activating the lighter, a compartment for storing tools needed to use the substance, a removable container having a sealable stopper for storing the substance, and a built-in safety mechanism that is connected to a trigger switch on the control unit to prevent accidental activation of the lighter when the lid closes. The trigger switch is activated through a contact communication with the lid when the lid opens, which in turn disables the built-in safety mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6929466
Abstract: An apparatus for the lighting of a candle that is elevated above a user includes a main body that has a trigger for releasing a quantity of butane from the main body. A plurality of sections of conduit cooperate with each other sufficient to telescope or extend from a retracted position into an extended position that is longer than the retracted position. When the trigger is depressed, butane is released from the main body and flows through all of the sections of conduit where it is eventually discharged into the ambient air. The butane is ignited, either by an on-board device or by a match, at a combined distal end of all of the sections of conduit. The sections of conduit provide a variable extensible effective length to the lighter that is adapted for igniting candles that are elevated above a user at varying distances. A candle snuffer is optionally included.

  • Patent number: 6592362
Abstract: A two-stage safety arrangement for a cigarette lighter of the piezoelectric type having a case that houses a flammable liquid container, gas release mechanism, and piezoelectric ignition element. The safety arrangement includes an ignition cover that covers the gas release mechanism, a striking lever, and a release button. To operate the lighter, a user must first depress the release button and use an upward movement to release the ignition cover and reveal the gas release mechanism. Next, the user must simultaneously depress the release button and push the striking lever rotatably downwards and away from the gas release mechanism in order to actuate the piezoelectric ignition element. Use of both hands to depress the release button and pry back the striking lever from above, near the gas release mechanism, is further prevented by providing a raised safety ridge to prevent a user from gripping the edge of the striking lever near the outlet of the gas release mechanism.

Abstract: An improved portable cigarette lighter closure device that provides facile pivoting of the cover between open and closed positions, and which securely retains the cover in the closed position is provided. The closure device incorporates a magnet affixed in the cover of a cigarette lighter, for securing the cover to a body of the lighter and to securely retain the cover in the closed position. The magnet exerts sufficient force on the body to retain the cover in the closed position, while enabling one handed pivoting of the cover by the user. Additionally the invention may be provided with an insulating sleeve. The ferromagnetic insulating sleeve prevents the magnetic field radiated by the magnet from passing through the cover of the lighter, for preventing magnetically attracted objects located in a pocket of the user's clothing such as the users keys and change for example, from being inadvertently drawn against the cover of the lighter.

When this happens the balance arm pivots so that the end of the balance arm bearing the lit candle rises. This continues until the lit candle is raised to a location at which it is extinguished by one of the snuffers. After the candle has been extinguished then the second candle may be lit. • Patent number: 4878834
Abstract: Disclosed is an improvement of gaslighter structure which has, in the hollow cylinder space at the rear portion of the housing, a push rod having hooks integrally connected to its opposite sides. The push rod is spring-biased upwards, and is pushed against the support piece of the cap, thereby permitting the cap to click shut and open. This arrangement permits necessary parts including a spring to be assembled in a cap pivot-and-latch simply by thrusting them in the rear space of the housing. This reduces the difficulty which otherwise, workers would encounter in assembling parts including a resilient element in a relatively small space. Also, the work of pivoting the cap to the housing can be advantageously separated from the work of assembling pivot-and-latch parts.

  • Patent number: 4040541
Abstract: A cover, removably mounted in a recess at one end of a cigarette lighter body, permits access to lighter service points within the recess. The cover includes an integral member formed of a plastics material and having a plate-like body consisting of a first section hinged to a second section by a reduced thickness section of the body. Projections extend from the first section of the body for releasably holding it within the recess. A hollow cylindrical spigot extends from the second section and is secured into the recess by a bayonet-like connection. By lifting the first section out of the recess it can be displaced angularly about its hinged connection to the second section and access can be obtained to the part of the recess covered by the first section. If necessary, the second section can be removed by twisting the plate-like body to open the bayonet-like connection with the lighter body.
