Abstract: A candle with a smooth exterior surface is configured so that it has a size and shape to substantially fill a hollow interior of the receptacle. The receptacle has an open mouth and a hollow interior having a smooth surface. The smooth exterior surface of the candle and smooth interior surface of the receptacle are in contact and slide past each other upon inserting the candle into the hollow interior to seat the candle on a moveable platform that is near a base end of the receptacle. After the candle is partially burned so an outer end thereof is burned away and displaced from the open mouth of the receptacle, the platform is advanced inward to move the outer end of the candle towards the open mouth to reposition the displaced outer end nearby the open mouth of the receptacle. The smooth exterior surface of the candle and the smooth interior surface of the receptacle are in contact and slide past each other as the outer end of the candle is repositioned to nearby the open mouth.

  • Patent number: 6182651
Abstract: An open air stove comprises a fuel supply line which can be connected to a fuel source, a fuel nozzle which is connected to one end of said supply line and which extends into a cylindrical inner part of an inner cup. The inner cup is mounted concentrically in a partially cylindrical outer cup, so that the cylindrical part of the inner cup extends at least partially into the cylindrical part of the outer cup. The relationship between the nozzle hole diameter &phgr;m, the inner diameter &phgr; of the cylindrical part of the inner cup, and the inner diameter &phgr;y of the cylindrical part of the outer cup is such that when &phgr;m lies in the range of 0.28-0.37 mm &phgr;i will have the value 24 +/−5 mm and &phgr;y will have the value 60 +5/−10 mm.

  • Patent number: 6162048
Abstract: A pilot assembly for producing a pilot flame including a pilot which includes a housing and a multiple orifice member mounted to the housing. The housing includes a gas flow passageway providing gas fuel from a gas source to the pilot flame. The orifice member positions one orifice in the passageway for metering the rate of gas flowing through the passageway, and hence combusted by the pilot, according to the type of gas. The orifice member can be moved relative to the housing so that another orifice is in the passageway for metering the gas when the pilot receives a different type of gas.

  • Patent number: 6095797
Abstract: A quick change pilot assembly (10) includes a pilot mounting plate (13) for securing the assembly to an appliance. A hood mounting plate (7) is detachable from the pilot mounting plate. A pilot hood (6) has at one end a flange (12) carried in an aperture of the hood mounting plate. A compressible member (3) has a central aperture and is disposed between the pilot mounting plate and the hood mounting plate. The compressible member is disposed to allow fuel to flow therethrough. An outer sleeve (11) and fitting receiving member (9) are sealingly affixed to the pilot mounting plate at a distal end thereof through an aperture in the pilot mounting plate, the circular compressible member, and the hood mounting plate aperture to the pilot hood. A lock sleeve assembly (2) is disposed within the outer sleeve and fitting receiving member. At one end, the lock sleeve assembly abuts and engages the compressible member central aperture. The lock sleeve also carries an orifice member (1).

  • Patent number: 5992410
Abstract: An improved high-efficiency furnace for use with manufactured housing has a modular heat exchanger assembly having a drum and a plurality of serpentine shaped tubes. A burner extends at least partially into the drum portion of the heat exchanger which acts as a combustion chamber. Hot combustion gases flow upwardly within the drum and enter the tubes heating the drum and tubes. Room air is drawn into the furnace by a circulating blower and blown against the plurality of tubes. The room air is then directed to flow around the drum portion of the heat exchanger where it is further heated before being discharged into the space being heated. The burner includes an inwardly tilted target plate having a plurality of fingers for facilitating the formation of a stable ball of flame within the drum.
