Abstract: A safety device for preventing uncontrolled burning in wick-fed liquid fuel burners of the type where a removable tank (10) feeds a sump (56), which in turn feeds a fuel chamber (24), which supplies the fuel to a wick burner. The chamber contains a float (54) that, in response to the presence of excess fuel in the chamber, rises and moves a member which obturates an opening (46) from the sump to the chamber, thereby causing the opening into the fuel chamber to be closed.
Abstract: A safety device for preventing uncontrolled burning in wick-fed liquid fuel burners employs a solenoid (76) and a thermocouple (18) in combination with a microswitch (80). When excess fuel enters the fuel chamber (40), a float (30) is urged upward, which forces a pin (28) upward, causing a microswitch (80) to open, thereby interrupting the electrical communication between the solenoid and thermocouple. As a result, a spring (24) can act to force an arm (14) upward, actuating the automatic wick extinguishing unit (42). Also, the mechanism prevents re-ignition of the wick (54) until the excess fuel is removed from the fuel chamber. When the fuel in the fuel chamber exceeds a predetermined level, a warning gauge needle (84) is deflected, alerting the user of the liquid fuel burner to a dangerous condition.

Abstract: From a fuel storage tank (13), a filter (1) is installed to prevent any obstruction, followed by a vacuum gauge (2) and a motor-driven pump (3) to deliver the fuel to the burner (12): immediately prior to said burner, there is a pressure relief valve (11). Said vacuum gauge (2) controls the suction of the motor-driven pump (3) and the level of dirt in the filter (1). A retention valve (4) is installed following said motor-driven pump (3), with a pressure gauge (5) and a pressurestat (6) fitted with two contacts, one for maximum and minimum or service contact, and the other for safety, to prevent fuel spillage in case of a pipe breakage, shutting off the motor-driven pump (3) to which the pressurestat (6) is connected by an electrical control (7). A safety valve opens if pressure is excessive and returns the fuel to the storage tank (13) while an expansion tank (8) keeps continuous pressure in the circuits even though the motor-driven pump (3) is operating intermittently.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a fuel supply system for a fuel burner of the type that requires for proper operation an excess flow of fuel to be provided to the burner with that excess being recirculated. The fuel system further requires that sufficient fuel is added to the system to make up for that amount of fuel which is fired or burned. The fuel supply system includes a fuel pump which selectively draws from a fuel supply the make-up fuel flow and from a return path the excess fuel flow for recirculation. At any given moment all fuel flow from one inlet line and the other inlet line is positively closed.
