Patent number: 9146042Abstract: A portable heating device for heating plastic tubing or pipe has a straight, hollow heating tube with an inner diameter larger than an outer diameter of the plastic tubing or pipe to be heated therein. A hot air gun directs a flow of hot air into the heating tube. A heat adjustment mechanism holds the hot air gun at an adjustable distance from the plastic tubing so that the hot air flow at the input end is at an optimum temperature range for softening the plastic tubing. The device is inexpensive to manufacture and easy to assemble, and avoids the use of expensive mechanical components. An optional heat retaining tail piece equipped with a cooling fan may be used to transfer the hot air flow air quicker through the heating tube.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2013Date of Patent: September 29, 2015Inventor: Alan Kurosu

Patent number: 6219937Abstract: Elliptically shaped reheater conduits extend downward into a portion of a flow path that extends through a lower chamber interior space of a kiln chamber. Each of the reheater conduits has opposite ends, defines a length that extends between the opposite ends and is perpendicular to the portion of the flow path that extends through the lower chamber interior space, defines a first cross-dimension that is perpendicular to the length and parallel to the portion of the flow path, and defines a second cross-dimension that is perpendicular to both the length and the portion of the flow path. The second cross-dimension is less than the first cross-dimension. Each of the reheater conduits defines outlets positioned along the length of the reheater conduit. Each reheater conduit defines a pair of vertices between which its second cross-dimension is defined, and the outlets are proximate the vertices.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2000Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Inventors: George R.
