Having Cover Or Guard Patents (Class 433/116)
  • Patent number: 4484891
Abstract: A vibratory endodontic device is described for mechanical preparation of dental radicular canals, i.e., root canals, prior to their obturation. The device includes a housing, a vibratory drive means supported within the housing to minimize the transfer of vibration to the housing, an endodontic file connected to the drive means for vibratory movement and stop means operatively connected to the housing and substantially isolated from the mechanical vibrations created by the vibratory drive means. Additionally, fluid transport means are provided for maintaining a continuous flow of irrigation fluid along the endodontic file. Various assemblies for retaining the endodontic files on the operative end of the vibrating device are also described.

  • Patent number: 4286950
Abstract: A cover for a dental handpiece end and a bur positioned thereon, the cover forms a resilient boot-like structure of generally L-shape having an enlarged leg portion with an open end adapted to engage the end of a dental handpiece and an open ended foot portion adapted to encompass a dental drill or bur on the handpiece end, the boot is split on a line extending from the foot portion open end to the enlarged leg open end on its inner surface to facilitate engagement with the handpiece.

  • Patent number: 4279596
Abstract: A dental handpiece, which has a drive motor part with a drive shaft for rotation in a housing, and a grip section connected to the housing and having a head part with a socket for receiving and mounting a tool for rotation, and a drive train coupled to the drive shaft to transfer rotary motion from the motor to the socket, characterized by a sleeve surrounding the housing and being axially removeable from the housing and the grip section so that parts of the handpiece can be individually sterilized as necessary without subjecting the motor to sterilization.

  • Patent number: 4268252
Abstract: A rigid tubular housing provides separate enclosures for a drive shaft and a dental tool that are rotatable on axes that are angularly related. A wall separating the two enclosures provides bearing support for tool-driving gears in one of the enclosures and connection to a driving shaft in the other. A latching mechanism envelops the housing and covers it smoothly. The latching mechanism is movable on the longitudinal axis of the tubular housing for controlling access to the enclosure for a dental tool.

  • Patent number: 4266935
Abstract: A sterilized protective sleeve for the handle of a dental instrument consists of an elastic tubular casing of synthetic resin and adapted to conform to the shank of the instrument. The casing defines a first opening to one end thereof for receiving the shank and enabling the casing to be pulled thereover and a second opening at an opposite end for permitting a tooth treating tool carried on the tip of the shank to project therethrough. A protective member of a shape-retaining resin is mounted on the opposite end and defines the second opening thereon.

  • Patent number: 4253831
Abstract: An aspirating dental device. An elongated sleeve member extends along a dental instrument to define an airflow passage having an inlet, adjacent the working end of the dental instrument, and an outlet. A vacuum source is connected to the airflow passage to cause air to flow therethrough, drawing water and waste with it. The sleeve member can extend over the dental instrument to define the airflow passage between the exterior surface of the dental intrument and the interior surface of the sleeve member. In such case, the sleeve member can be cut to provide a hinged cover portion openable to permit access to the working end of the dental instrument, for example for installation or removal of a dental bur. Alternatively, the sleeve member can extend along and contact a portion of the exterior surface of the dental instrument to define the airflow passage therebetween. As another alternative, the sleeve member can be a tube extending along the dental instrument.

  • Patent number: 4251212
Abstract: A dental handpiece having a first section rotatably mounted on an axis of a drive motor part and supporting a head part at the other end, characterized by the head part being releasably connected to the first section and a rotatable coupling in the cooling lines between the drive motor part and the first section being free from uncoupling when changing the head part to change the drive ratio of the drive train. In addition, the head part has a protective sleeve which surrounds the first section and the rotatable coupling so that the rotatable coupling and first section are not subjected to sterilization with adverse effects to the coupling and to the condition of the lubricant in the various bearings in the drive train.
