Publication number: 20130216978Abstract: The system of a preferred embodiment uses a process whereby a true replication of the patient's jaw structure is created in a digital three dimensional model. This true replication is then used to precisely locate and/or copy the anatomical landmarks of the patient for use in fabricating a denture base for use in a denture for the individual patient. This system is able to create a denture with precisely located features corresponding to the anatomical landmarks of the patient with little manual intervention.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2011Publication date: August 22, 2013Applicant: GLOBAL DENTAL SCIENCE, LLCInventors: Timothy C. Publication number: 20130157225Abstract: Provided are dental articles, and methods of making articles, having an aesthetic inorganic coating based on zirconia at least partially stabilized with yttrium oxide, calcium oxide, cerium oxide, or magnesium oxide. Stabilized zirconia coatings were found to provide a smooth, low friction surface having high abrasion resistance. These coatings are particularly applicable to orthodontic appliances. While virgin stabilized zirconia coatings can often have an undesirable color cast, it was discovered that this color cast can be substantially eliminated by heat treating the coated appliance in an oxygenated environment. The combination of depositing a stabilized zirconia coating and subsequently heat treating to decolorize the coating provides a surprisingly robust, stable, low-friction coating that is also aesthetic.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANYInventors: Geoffrey P. Patent number: 6911046Abstract: A biocompatible form and a method for fabricating the implant are provided. The biocompatible form may be used to support bone graft material such as that used to reconstruct missing bone in a patient's oral cavity. The implant is fabricated from a biocompatible mesh, which may be made of titanium, a titanium alloy or fiber and is permanently implantable in the patient's oral cavity. The biocompatible form has an anatomical configuration which includes one or more portions conforming substantially to various alveolar bone contours which may include predetermined, human interproximal bone contours, root prominence bone contours and mylohyoid ridge bone contours. The biocompatible form may include a palatal section. The biocompatible form may also include one or more apertures for receiving a corresponding number of dental prostheses therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2003Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: Cagenix, Inc.Inventor: Carl W. Publication number: 20040214127Abstract: A dental article is formed by a polymer material obtained by the polymerization of at least a cycloolefin. A process for the surface modification of a dental article formed by a polymer material obtained by the polymerization of at least a cycloolefin, comprises applying a graft polymerization initiator over the surface of the dental article, supplying a reactive monomer onto the coated surface of the article, and then subjecting the coat to graft photopolymerization.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2004Publication date: October 28, 2004Applicant: TOMY INCORPORATEDInventors: Masao Kubo, Masaaki Orikasa
