Including Hinge Having Parts Which Cooperate In A Manner Allowing Relative Movement Patents (Class 433/57)
  • Patent number: 4330275
Abstract: The articulator is the type which has an upper part with a horizontal branch and a lower part with a horizontal branch below and substantially parallel to the upper branch. The upper part has a pair of spaced wings connected to the rear of the upper branch and angling upwardly at a small angle therefrom as well as an adjustable incisor pin extending downwardly from the front end thereof. The lower branch has a pair of spaced articulator pins extending upwardly into slots in the wings of the upper part as well as an incisal tray angling downwardly from the front end to receive the incisal pin. Thus the upper part is supported in the lower part as a tripod with a relatively low center of gravity. A mold is provided to be connected to the articulator.

  • Patent number: 4305708
Abstract: A dental articulator for simulating relative jaw and tooth movements, especially useful for producing centric, lateral and forward relative jaw movements of simulated jaws containing a patient's simulated tooth structure, includes a plurality of selectable, pre-set, positive positions for locating simulated condyles and condylar joints to match those of a patient, shaft means mounted on the condyles, adjustable means for simulating superior, posterior and medial walls of condylar joints and override means to maintain the simulated jaws and teeth in relatively movable centric position when engaging the shaft and allowing accurate simulated forward and sideward relative jaw movements when disengaged therefrom. Also disclosed are preferred means for mounting the condyles and condylar joint wall parts and wall parts of improved structure to promote accurate simulation of actual condylar movements.

  • Patent number: 4290754
Abstract: An articulator for use in making dentures or parts thereof wherein two principal members, pivotable relative to each other by means of conventional condylar mechanisms, have anchoring means for teeth models required for making the dentures. In order for one principal member to carry the other, it has a single, slender arm or post which at its end towards the other member carries the condylar shafts of the condylar mechanisms, with the condylar balls displaceable on said shafts, while the other principal member carries the condylar tracks.

  • Patent number: 4209909
Abstract: Styluses defining a hinge axis in a dental articulator are received in guide block pathways defined by side walls and a curved upper wall. The blocks are rotatably mounted to vary the slope of the upper wall. A supply of guide blocks is provided having a medial wall with a rear curved portion which varies for different blocks based on average values. The user selects the blocks having the desired medial wall to provide the desired side shift. In one arrangement, the side walls are formed as a unit and removeably mounted on the upper wall and the user selects the side wall unit from a supply of units providing different degrees of side shift movement. In another form, the medial wall is transversely adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4189837
Abstract: A dental jaw simulator is provided for duplicating human jaw movements and, in particular, the movement of the lower human jaw. The simulator includes a support frame and an upper jaw member pivotally mounted on the support frame and which is adapted to receive an upper dental arch cast. A lower jaw member is also mounted on the support frame and is adapted to receive a lower dental arch cast. Movement of the lower jaw member in protrusive and retrusive directions and in a lateral direction is controlled by a ball and slot hinge arrangement in combination with a movable anterior platform mounted on the support frame and a forward pin connected to the lower jaw member and which engages and is movable relative to the anterior platform. The anterior platform is provided with sloping planes on which the forward pin moves to guide the lower jaw member in order to duplicate the dropping of the lower human jaw during lateral movement.
