Abstract: An apparatus for assisting a podiatrist in the performance of various para-medical operations on patients. The apparatus consists of a unit movble on the ground as if a dental unit used by dentists. The work unit includes a pneumatic network, connected to an external air compressor, and to which is connected three tools. Two of these tools include drilling heads, pressurized water outlets and pressurized air outlets, while the third tool includes a pressurized water outlet and pressurized air outlet. Operation of each tool, and of each outlet and drill of a given tool, is made independently of each other, and controlled by a number of knobs, buttons and dials.

Abstract: A mixing device for molding compositions for use in dentistry has a housing into which and from which a trough plate and the underlying tray can be displaced like a drawer. A mat of bibulous material substantially completely fills the tray beneath the trough plate and delivers water in a controlled manner through passages traversing the trough plate and leading to the troughs. A vessel containing the moisturizing liquid is placed on the housing and is connected by a conduit with the tray, the conduit including a valve for controlling flow to the tray.

Abstract: A dental work station designed to position the dental assistant's instrumentation and the dentist's dynamic instrumentation in an efficient location to deliver dental instruments to the respective operators in the best position in relation to the patient for both the comfort of the patient and the ease of the operators is shown. Due to the unique design of the work station, the instrumentation of both the assistant and the operator can switch from a left-handed to right-handed and reverse itself in a matter of seconds, thus making it a completely ambidextrous unit. The unique arrangement of the overhead structure allows the dentist's dynamic instruments to be efficiently delivered to the dentist without interfering with the dental assistant's equipment. In addition, the overhead structure houses both the astral operating light and the general light fixtures to provide optimum lighting for the operators.

Abstract: An oral hygiene work station includes a work table which includes a wash basin and a spray fitting and at least one cabinet which can receive additional components. A table top is pivotally mounted underneath and approximately in the center of the work table. The table top is pivotally mounted between a first position where the table top is disposed between the work table and the cabinet and extends so that the table top faces away from the wash basin to a second position where the table top has pivoted approximately 90.degree. so that the table top extends beyond the frontal edge surface of the work table and avoids interference with access to the cabinet.

Abstract: A dental working stand comprises a stationary working table with a lower cabinet forming an instrument module and/or an upper cabinet.To facilitate the dentist's access to the lower and/or upper cabinet during sole working the lower and/or upper cabinet, respectively, are pivotal around a vertical axis from a first position in which the front of the cabinet faces the position of the dental nurse at the front of the working table to a second position in which the cabinet front faces a dentist's postion at one end of a patient's support.

Abstract: An equipment stand for dental implements, consisting of a support column mounting holders for the implements, wherein the holders are horizontally reciprocable; in effect moveable to and fro. The horizontally reciprocable holders facilitate that the mostly different kinds of implements which are positioned in the holder can be brought into a suitable nearness for gripping at the working location of the dental technician, and pursuant to need; for instance, for the creation of the free space which is necessary for carrying out any such work which is to be done without the above-mentioned implements, can be again moved away from proximity to the gripping location.

Abstract: A counter-balanced parallel arm assembly for supporting a control unit for dental handpieces, such as high speed air drills, and other air driven or electrically energized dental instruments which are removably mounted on the control unit, or for supporting other medical, electrical, electronic, or other units. The assembly includes an upright standard, a first arm mounted on the standard to be rotatable about a vertical axis, and a second arm coupled to the end of the first arm and rotatable about both vertical and horizontal axes. The supported unit is suspended from the end of the second arm by a post, and it is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the post. The post is pivotally coupled to the end of the second arm to be rotatable about a horizontal axis. The supported unit may be set to any desired vertical and horizontal position to locate it for convenient access by the operator.

Abstract: An arrangement for the carrying of dental implements, consisting of a carrying plate arranged on a supporting member, and which has one side facing upwardly including positioning elements provided for the implements on the upwardly facing plate side thereof. The dental implements which are located on the support plate can consist of hand instruments, for example, probes, mirror, tamping instruments, pincettes or the like. Furthermore, the implements can also be formed of cotton receptacles, medication flasks, waste receptacles, as well as worktool, handpiece and anglepiece supports. The positioning elements for the implements can be arranged directly on the carrying plate or also in flat trays, or can even be formed by the flat trays themselves.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a balancing device for vertically movable dental arms such as a dental light arm and a dental tray arm, and more specifically to a balancing device which is capable of accurately positioning the arm at any desired position by sufficiently balancing the weight of a load head with the force of the spring member coaxially inserted in the arm. The balancing device features compact size, low cost and high operability.

Abstract: A dental equipment stand which includes a mounting component on which there is horizontally linearly displaceable a holder carriage for dental instruments which are removably restrained in individual holders, and is thereby supported so as to be movable sideways out of the mounting equipment. The individual holders can be moved aside in such a manner that a free space is produced below the mounting component whereby the instruments which are arranged within the individual holders no longer stand in the way of the close movement of the front side of the mounting component against the mouth of the patient.

Abstract: A dental operating unit is shown for use behind the head of a reclining patient's chair. There is a central, floor-mounted dentist's dynamic instrument service cabinet and an elongated counter top that is elevated above the service cabinet a short distance thereby leaving a gap between the cabinet and the counter top, and there is a pair of pivoted bracket arms located within the gap above the service cabinet and beneath the counter top. One pivot bracket arm has an anchor pivot that supports the bracket arms, while the free end of the second bracket arm is attached to a dental assistant's unit; whereby this dental assistant's unit is supported by a pair of swinging bracket arms which are capable of moving so that the dental assistant's unit may be reversible from either the left side or the right side of the patient's chair.

Abstract: A dental burr holder comprising a holder body adapted to rest on a support and having a smooth, upper surface interrupted by a plurality of upwardly opening burr receiving apertures, and a member projecting generally upwardly from the holder body and having a smooth front surface which faces across the upper surface of the holder body. These two surfaces form a background which color contrasts with the burrs and against which the burrs are viewed. The background is continuously color contrasting and is substantially visually uninterrupted except for the burr receiving apertures. This structure allows quick and accurate selection of the desired burr silhouetted against the contrasting background, and also makes the problem of detecting damaged or imperfect burrs easier. With dark colored burrs, a white background is preferred.

Abstract: The invention concerns a console specifically designed for the suction tubes of suction units used in dentistry.The console basically comprises a box-like shell which is furnished with a collector, maintained in a state of vacuum and connected to the suction tubes, inside of which is a filter drawer through which pass all the fluids sucked in by the tubes. There is a compartment located in the top of the box-like shell, its top open, which contains the pneumatic and electrical command devices necessary to the console's functioning.The console further comprises a cover in which are located the forked housings for the tubes, which can be attached directly to the top of the box-like shell or which can be connected to the box-like shell by means of articulating arms which allow adjustment of the position of the cover and, consequently, the tubes' housings, with respect to the box-like shell, which will normally be fixed to the dentist's main assembly.

Abstract: A supply unit, consisting of a plurality of adjacent arranged modular-like carriers each of which is associated with a dental handpiece, each of which has associated therewith a supply element for the individual supply of the associated handpiece, wherein the supply elements as well as the carriers are arranged adjacent each other and are provided with through conduits extending through collective supply elements and which carry the supply media for the handpieces. The conduits are connected, through connecting conduits extending within the hollow-constructed carrier, with the respective handpiece whereby, further supply components are fastened within the interior of each carrier onto a holder, and which are connected intermediate the connecting conduits leading from the associated supply element to the therewith associated handpiece.

Abstract: An improved dental handpiece holder supports a handpiece in the region from the rear end of the grip portion to the tail-stock portion. A front gripping holder portion prevents movement in the horizontal direction, a rear gripping holder portion prevents a forward tipping moving, and the front and rear gripping portions co-act to prevent movement of the handpiece in the axial direction. The front gripping portion is provided with three separate portions, one on the left hand wall and two on its right hand wall. The two supporting portions on the right hand wall are spaced axially apart from one another, and the single supporting portion on the left hand wall is located in a axial position intermediate that of the opposing two portions. Right and left supporting portions in the rear gripping portion support the tail-stock of the handpiece.

Abstract: An improved utility cabinet for dentists is disclosed. The top of the cabinet is movable to a closed position and a functional position, and an adjustable, spring-urged bolt is engageable with different escutcheon plates to latch the top in each position. A waste receptacle is attachable to the side of the cabinet by a hook and teazle material for simplicity in releasably attaching the receptacle to the cabinet. An optional arm rest is arranged so bracket arms spring inwardly against collars to retard pivotal motion of the arm rest.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a dental console which includes two support arms rotatably mounted on a common pedestal. Each support arm comprises a plurality of links which enable the support arms to be conveniently positioned relative to a dental chair in which a patient is seated. A first support arm includes a work tray with a plurality of power driven hand pieces and air and water syringes mounted thereon. A second support arm includes a cuspidor having various components, such as a syringe, evacuator, saliva ejector and air mounted thereon. The first support arm and second support arm may be easily rotated so as to position the work tray and cuspidor, respectively, on either the right-hand side or left-hand side of the dental chair. In this manner, the dental console of the present invention may be readily used by either a right-handed dentist or a left-handed dentist.

The unit has the instrument holder mounted on a four-bar linkage for swinging the holder from a relatively low stored position to an in-use position. At a low point of the swing, the dental instruments are at a relatively low position and convenient to a seated dentist. The four-bar linkage is arranged so that at a higher point in the swing, the instrument holder is thrust to a relatively high position as may be convenient to a standing dentist.

Abstract: A dental instrument delivery system of the type in which hand pieces are stored at the front edge of an instrument deck and are connected to utilities by means of flexible tubes with coiled memories is provided with structure to contain and support the weight of the tubing. The hand pieces may be held by removable hangers of heat resistant material so that the hangers may be separately sterilized. The instrument deck may further be provided with a slidably mounted tray adapted for cantilever suspension from either side of the deck.
