Patent number: 11957529Abstract: The endodontic point containing ultrasonic deformable material is a filler for root canal therapy that decreases in viscosity when subjected to ultrasonic waves. Once the point is inserted into a prepared tooth space, such as a prepared and cleaned root canal, the point is subjected to ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic waves cause the viscosity of the point to lower, thus allowing the point to flow into voids in the tooth space and allow air to escape from the voids. The point then hardens and remains in the shape acquired when at low viscosity once application of the ultrasonic waves is stopped.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2020Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: KING SAUD UNIVERSITYInventor: Mohammed Abdullah Alshehri

Patent number: 10010388Abstract: Apparatus and methods for endodontic treatment of teeth provide effective cleaning of organic material (such as pulp and diseased tissue) from the root canal system. In an embodiment, a compressor system generates high pressure liquid (e.g., water) that flows through an orifice to produce a high-velocity collimated jet of liquid. The high-velocity jet is directed toward a surface of a tooth, for example, an exposed dentinal surface, and impingement of the jet onto the surface generates an acoustic wave that propagates throughout the tooth. The acoustic wave effectively detaches organic material from dentinal surfaces and tubules. The detached organic material is flushed from the root canal system by the liquid jet and/or by additional irrigation.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2014Date of Patent: July 3, 2018Assignee: SONENDO, INC.Inventors: Morteza Gharib, Joshua Adams, Erik Hars, Bjarne Bergheim, Karl Stocks, Lance Doherty

A fluid motion generator can be coupled to the chamber. The fluid motion generator can be configured to direct fluid across the access port to generate fluid motion in the chamber. In various embodiments, fluid motion (e.g., vortices, swirl, etc.) can be induced at or near treatment regions of the tooth, such as a root canal or carious region.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2013Publication date: August 7, 2014Applicant: Sonendo, Inc.Inventors: Mehrzad Khakpour, Bjarne Bergheim, Richard S. Publication number: 20140212834Abstract: A cleaning instrument for an endodontic procedure such as a root canal provides a distal portion for agitating an irrigant, comprising in some embodiments agitating structures that stir the irrigant to assist in removing the smear layer and dislodging loosely adhered organic debris. The structures may also be designed to assist in evacuating irrigant from the canal. Some embodiments provide orifices through which an irrigating fluid can traverse the distal portion of the instrument and enter the canal to wash away loosened debris and sterilize the canal.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2014Publication date: July 31, 2014Inventor: Ghassan YARED

Patent number: 8753121Abstract: Apparatus and methods for endodontic treatment of teeth provide effective cleaning of organic material (such as pulp and diseased tissue) from the root canal system. The detached organic material is flushed from the root canal system by the liquid jet and/or by additional irrigation.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2007Date of Patent: June 17, 2014Assignee: Sonendo, Inc.Inventors: Morteza Gharib, Joshua Adams, Erik Hars, Bjarne Bergheim, Karl Stocks, Lance Doherty

Patent number: 8684730Abstract: A delivery device for delivering filling material into the canal during a root canal procedure includes a shaft having a bed portion at a distal end thereof, and a biocompatible filler material mounted to the bed portion. The filler material includes an upper surface, a side surface, and a distal end. The delivery device bed portion has a greater thermal conductivity than the filler material; and the bed portion of the shaft wraps at least partially around the filler material and contacts the filler material substantially along the length of the filler material from the upper end of the filler material to at, or proximate, the distal end of the filler material. This delivery device allows for better control of temperature delivery and position of the filling material and allows for a more thorough and precise heating of the filler material in vivo.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2012Date of Patent: April 1, 2014Assignee: Endodontic Specialist's Advocate, LLCInventor: Wyatt Simons

Publication number: 20140030672Abstract: The invention relates to a method and kit for the producing an obturating means for apical sealing an tooth root canal, for improving root canal fillings. The invention also relates to the use of bone glue as an apical stop for obturating root canals.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2013Publication date: January 30, 2014Inventor: Markus Lietzau

Publication number: 20130273495Abstract: A method and a device for effecting the cordless retraction of the gingival sulcus tissue that includes a cap or dam to be fitted onto a tooth. The well of the cap is pre-filled with a predetermined amount of a flowable non-setting kaolin based retraction material having a heavy viscosity or putty consistency. The preloaded cap is fitted to a prepared tooth so that when pressure is applied onto the cap, the retraction material is displaced under pressure and forced to flow into the sulcus, causing the gingival tissue to retract away from the tooth to enlarge the gingival sulcus. An internal ridge aids in retaining the retraction material within the cap.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2013Publication date: October 17, 2013Inventors: William B. Dragan, John J. Discko
