Medium, Per Se, For Culture, Maintenance, Regeneration, Etc. Patents (Class 435/431)
  • Patent number: 5681748
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of subgrouping media formulations into stable, compatible components that can then be solubilized at high concentrations (10.times. to 100.times.). Concentrated solutions of the ingredient containing subgroups can be used to prepare media formulations. Concentrated culture media formulations (2-10.times.) or 1.times. cell culture media can be prepared according to the present invention by mixing a sufficient amount of the concentrated subgroup solutions with a sufficient amount of a diluent (water, buffer, etc.).The present invention further relates to stabilization of glutamine by complexing or mixing glutamine with divalent metal cations in solution.

  • Patent number: 5624672
Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of obtaining plant-derived delipidated extracts that inhibit apoptosis, the extracts obtained, compositions containing said extracts and methods of using said compositions. The figure is a bar graph which illustrates a lower incidence of diarrhea in rats treated with methotrexate and fed a diet of compositions of the claimed invention as compared to controls.

  • Patent number: 5624838
Abstract: A sterilized plant culture medium comprising a dye in an amount which imparts a visible color to the culture medium and which permits seed germination is provided which is useful for attracting children, for observing and studying seed germination, root and shoot formation and whole plant development, and for color-coding plant cultures.

  • Patent number: 5604125
Abstract: An aqueous medium for plant tissue culture is provided including a nutritively effective concentration of reduced nitrogen, preferably in the form of an amino acid such as arginine employed in an amount of from 1.0 to 5.0 mM, and having not more that 1.5 mM NH.sub.4.sup.+. A phosphorus compound at a concentration of at least 2.5 mM measured as phosphate is also included. A chelating agent such as EDTA, and an iron compound present in molar excess over the concentration of the chelating agent are employed to control divalent ion concentrations. Potassium ions are maintained at a concentration of below 14 mM. The use of media containing ammonium ions at less than 1.5 mM combined with a supply of reduced nitrogen in the form of arginine, with low potassium levels, has proved useful as media for organized growth, particularly for use with coniferous plants.
