The electrical connector assembly is configured for displacing and draining water and other contaminants from contact pins and surrounding surfaces during the connection process. As the electrical connector assembly is mated, water and other containments are removed from the contact pins and the surfaces surrounding the contact pins. This prevents contact pins from electrically shorting with other contact pins as a result of undesired current flow through the water collected on the surface.
