  • Patent number: 8888511
Abstract: The invention relates to power sockets and, more particularly, relates to universal power sockets capable of receiving, and electrically engaging with, different types of plugs having pins. Even more particularly, the invention relates to a universal power socket having sprung contacts. There are universal adapters already in existence, however some are unable to connect accurate and stably with a plug. Some may require a different pin clasp to hold it in place, whereas some adapters may be too big, or are not cost effective, and will still be unable to hold a vast range of power plugs. My invention has resolved all of these problems, something which has never previously been done. The creation of my universal adapter has enabled the use of only one clasp in order to hold 9 different pins. It is accurate and will hold power plugs stably in place, with the convenience of being able to connect to a majority of power plugs worldwide.

  • Patent number: 6854994
Abstract: A lead connector arrangement includes a non-cylindrically shaped connector pin coupled to a lead conductor and a connector sleeve assembly for receiving the non-cylindrically shaped connector pin. The connector sleeve assembly includes an insert with an axial bore formed therein that complements the shape of the non-cylindrical connector pin. According to one embodiment, the non-cylindrical connector pin may be provided in the form of a triangular, square, rectangular, or hexagonal shape. The axial bore has a complimentary shape to receive the connector pin. When the connector pin is threaded through the connector sleeve assembly using a pull-wire device, the pull-wire device may be unscrewed from the connector pin without causing axial rotation of the lead conductor when the connector pin is fully inserted within the axial bore.

Abstract: Various service port configurations for the transfer of fluids, gases and electricity between a service terminal and a vehicle are provided. The service port includes a receptacle and a controller. The receptacle includes a clamp and a clamp actuator for actuating the clamp; a service exchange interface in between the clamp; and sensors inside the receptacle and configured to monitor the position of a plug inside the receptacle. The controller is connected to the sensors and the actuator, and monitors the sensors. When a sensor detects that a plug is in position for engagement, the controller instructs the clamp actuator to move the clamp until the plug is clamped with sufficient force to enable a service to be exchanged. The receptacle and the plug are couplable to either the service port or a vehicle and a service terminal, and both are implementable at a multiplicity of locations on a vehicle.
