Patent number: 6636000Abstract: A plasma display device has a pair of substrates having electrodes and terminals provided at ends of the electrodes. Driving circuits supply a driving voltage to the electrodes via flexible printed circuit boards to emit light. Connectors are detachably attached to the substrate. The connector includes a housing and terminal members disposed in the housing, with the terminal member having a U-shaped cross-sectional shape, so that a first portion as one leg of the “U” contacts the terminal of the electrode and a second portion as another leg of the “U” contacts the conductor of the flexible connecting member. The terminals of the electrodes are arranged in a staggered manner at the end of the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2001Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display LimitedInventors: Fumitaka Asami, Tadao Miyasaka, Kazuyuki Harada, Masatoshi Hira, Norio Matsumoto

Patent number: 5569042Abstract: A light fixture for a double-ended lamp includes a first insulator containing a first electrical socket and a well in communication therewith and having a greater depth than the first socket. A second insulator has a second electrical socket and a slot in communication with the second socket and is biased by a spring into a first position. To install the lamp, a first end of the lamp is placed into the well and a second end of the lamp is then slid through the slot in the second insulator into contact with the second socket. The second insulator is then retracted into a second position to allow the first end of the lamp to slide from the well into the first socket. The second insulator is released to allow the bias of the spring to press upon the ends of the lamp to firmly secure each end into its respective socket.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1995Date of Patent: October 29, 1996Assignee: Appleton Electric CompanyInventor: Garry M. Patent number: 5126619Abstract: A discharge lamp unit in which a pair of terminal and lead support assemblies (A, B), composed of a pair of metal connector terminals (123, 125) and a pair of metal lead supports (122, 124), are fixedly held by a molded resin lamp holder (120) in such a manner that the connector terminals (123, 125) extend from the rear surface of the lamp holder while the lead supports (122, 124) extend from the front surface of the lamp holder to support a discharge lamp (110). The lamp holder has an axial through-hole formed therein during the molding of the lamp holder in a metal mold in such a manner that the axial through-hole is located between the connector terminals of the terminal and lead support assemblies, whereby the lamp holder is enhanced in dielectric strength.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1991Date of Patent: June 30, 1992Assignee: Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yukio Wakimizu, Hirohiko Ohshio

Patent number: 5122074Abstract: A one-piece, molded plastic spring clip, which is substantially inverted U-shape in cross-section, has a bight portion including an opening receiving a screw threaded fastener to attach the clip to the rear surface of a lamp holder so that the screw threaded fastener does not extend from the clip through a headed flange portion of a lamp holder to provide a liquid conduit which could potentially short the lamp. The clip is provided with legs extending from either side of the bight and each leg has a pair of spaced, parallel wing portions extending outwardly from its associated leg to expand when inserted through the mounting plate. The wing portions provide vertical shoulders to seat the lamp holder on a vertical support in conjunction with a compressible coil spring provided on the opposite side of the mounting panel or vertical support between the headed flange and support to exert pressure on the clip shoulders against the rear of the mounting panel.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1991Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: Voltarc Technologies Inc.Inventors: Hans Maag, Gino J.
