  • Patent number: 6488545
Abstract: An electrical signal interconnect assembly has first and second high speed coaxial interconnects with each interconnect having a male and female side. One of the male and female side of the first interconnect is floatably mounted on the assembly with the other side mounted on an electrical instrument. The second coaxial interconnect is mounted on a mechanical alignment facility having coarse and fine mechanical alignment portions with the coarse mechanical alignment portion including a closely mating pocket and body. One of the male and female side of the interconnect is mounted on the pocket with the other side mounted on the body. One of the pocket and body is mounted on the interconnect assembly and the other of the pocket and body is mounted on the electrical instrument. A coaxial cable electrically connects the two coaxial interconnects together in the interconnect assembly.

Abstract: A divided connector has an auxiliary connector (40A) displaceably mounted in a frame (20). The auxiliary connector (40A) is held in a semi-locked state by resilient locks (27) on the frame (20). When female and male connectors (F, M) are fitted to each other, the auxiliary connector (40A) is held by unlock preventing portions (52) of the mating connector that prevent the resilient locks (27) from being deformed in unlocking direction, and is connected with a mating side prior to the other auxiliary connector (40B). When this connection is completed, the resilient locks (27) are released and deform in unlocking direction to unlock the auxiliary connector (40A). The auxiliary connector (40B) is subsequently connected while displacing the auxiliary connector (40A) to a back side with respect to the connecting direction.

  • Patent number: 6450698
Abstract: A system is provided for mounting a connecting device to a substrate with relative floating movement therebetween. The system includes a connector housing adapted for mounting on the substrate and including at least one elongated channel in a side of the housing. The channel extends generally perpendicular to the substrate and has an elongated restricted mouth opening at a side thereof. An elongated fastening post is snap-fit into the channel past the restricted mouth thereof to a preload position. A cross-dimension of the channel is larger than a cross-dimension of the fastening post so that the post can float relative to the housing. A fastener engages with the substrate and is operatively associated with the fastening post for tightening the post against the substrate, leaving the connector housing with floating movement relative to the substrate in a direction generally parallel to the substrate.

Abstract: An RF connector of a coaxial cable having an inner conductor, an outer conductor surrounding the inner conductor, a dielectric cylinder located between the inner and outer conductors, an outer radial barb projecting radially inwardly from the outer conductor into the cylinder, and an axial barb projecting axially from the outer conductor into the cylinder. The outer radial barb and axial barb work in cooperation to decrease the effect of contraction in the dielectric cylinder during colder temperatures, thereby providing a seal which prevents water and moisture from entering the connector.

  • Patent number: 6435891
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (2) includes a first connector in the form of a printed circuit board header (10) and a second connector in the form of a plug connector that can be attached to wires in a wiring harness. One of the connectors is mounted in an opening (6) in a panel so that the connector is free to float in an X and a Y direction. A protruding alignment post (30) on one connector is received within an alignment cavity (70) on the other connectors so that the connector positioned in the panel opening (6) will shift laterally so that pin terminals (22) in one connector will be aligned with receptacle terminals (50) in terminal cavities of the other connector will be aligned before they are mated. A mechanical assist member, such as a bolt (90) extends through a central opening (32) in the alignment post (30) and through the mating alignment cavity (70) to increase the force available to mate the two connectors.
