The top and bottom surfaces of the top and bottom portions, respectively, form opposing top and bottom surfaces of the module when the module is in an in-line orientation with an in-line axis through the module passing through the female and male plugs. The top and bottom portions are rotatable about an axis of rotation angled at 45.degree. to the in-line axis, and rotate from the in-line orientation to a wall mounting orientation, wherein the male plug extends from a side of the module and is perpendicular to in-line axis. Surge suppression and filtering circuitry is carried within the bottom portion along with connectors for connection of electrical equipment used with the surge suppression module.

The conductive tabs are resilient and provide good electrical conductivity between the first hinge plate and the second hinge plate. The hinge is particularly advantageous in grounding an electrically conductive cover to an electrical conductive housing.

The block can be pivoted to give access to the connectors from in front of the panel so that connections can be made, after which the block can be pivoted back to its operative position and latched in place. In a second embodiment of the invention, the block is supported by retaining clips extending from the front of the panel so that it can be supported in front of the panel during wiring after which it is inserted into an aperture in the panel and pivotally supported therein, with means on the block for latching it in place.
