Fingerlike Grasping Means Comprising Portion Of Coupling Part Patents (Class 439/328)
  • Patent number: 4826446
Abstract: Electrical connector assemblies comprising a housing and a plurality of contact pins engaged therein, the pins having spaced flexible contact arms adapted to receive and be flexed apart by an electrical component such as a printed circuit card during the pivot attachment thereof. The contact pins have a spaced pair of lower contact legs and a spaced pair of upper contact arms, one of which is generally C-shaped and flexible in directions towards and away from the other to provide a flexible gap therebetween which, at rest, is greater than the thickness of the printed circuit card.

  • Patent number: 4810200
Abstract: A connector apparatus comprises a header connector, into which an IC pack is loaded and from which it is unloaded, and an ejector unit detachably mounted on the header connector. The header connector includes a locking lever having a protrusion which is adapted to engage a locking notch in the surface of the IC pack, when the IC pack is loaded. The ejector unit includes a base attached to one surface of the heater connector, a push lever attached to one side portion of the base, so as to be movable in the loading or unloading direction of the IC pack, an unlocking lever formed integrally on the push lever and adapted to engage the locking lever, when the push lever moves in the pack-loading direction, and an eject member movably mounted on the base and having an eject portion adapted to move in the pack-unloading direction as the push lever moves in the pack-loading direction.

  • Patent number: 4781612
Abstract: Socket for receiving edge of a substrate of a single in-line memory module comprises a dielectric housing having an elongate channel. Contact terminals are received within cavities located in the channels. One embodiment of contact comprises a pair of opposed arms formed upward to a bend where each is formed through an obtuse angle toward the other arm of the pair, one arm being stamped from a continuous carrier strip leaving an aperture, each contact being attached to the carrier by a pair of straps. One embodiment of the socket housing includes support brackets on either end of the elongate channel. Guide slots in the support bracket align and support the module. An integral resilient flange engages holes in the module substrate to hold the module in position.

  • Patent number: 4756694
Abstract: A connector housing included multiple rows of contacts with the housing molded to provide an orientation to receive printed circuit board modules inserted therein at an angle of substantially less than 90 degrees relative to a common printed circuit board module mounting board. The rows of the housings have at each end board guide and support slots containing latches integrally therewith and a central structural web connecting said rows and guide ends, the such web providing structural support of said rows and at the same time, serving as a path of flow during the connector molding process.

  • Patent number: 4737120
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electrical connector (2) for electrically connecting contact surfaces (74) of a daughter board (18) to contact areas (46) of mother board (34). The connector (2) has contacts (36) positioned therein, the connector (2) having posts (38) which extend from the connector (2) and make electrical engagement with contact areas (46) of the mother board (34). The daughter board (18) is then inserted into the connector (2) under reduced or zero insertion force conditions and rotated to its operating position. As this rotation occurs, contact projections (60, 72) of the contacts (36) engage the contact surfaces (74) of the daughter board (18). The rotation is translated into a positive wiping action between the contact projections (60, 72) and the contact surfaces (74), thereby ensuring that a positive electrical connection is effected. The resilient nature of the contacts (36) ensures that this wiping action occurs under normal force conditions. The configuration and characteristics, i.

  • Patent number: 4721348
Abstract: An edge connector for electrically contacting a substrate. The substrate is held within connector housing by the force provided by a clamp means hingedly disposed within a cutout in the housing. The clamp means includes a spring portion, a clamp portion and a strike portion. The insertion of the substrate causes the clamp means through the action of all three portions to secure the substrate within the housing. The substrate can be released by hand.

  • Patent number: 4713013
Abstract: A connector arrangement for electrically connecting circuit elements disposed on two printed circuit boards and spaced apart at centerlines of about 0.050 of an inch or less is described which includes a pitch controlling contact locator cooperating between the mating edge of an edge card and the connector housing. The pitch controlling contact locator includes a resilient supported spring member disposed in the connector cavity generally at the midpoint of the terminal array which is resilient in a vertical direction and substantially rigid in a horizontal direction. It further includes a mating cutout disposed in the mating edge generally at the midpoint of an array of contact pads which is adapted to engage the spring member with two points of contact when the edge card is inserted into the connector cavity.
