Abstract: A processor extraction device interacts with a processor to extract the processor from coupling between connectors of the processor and a socket, such as land grid array connectors that are susceptible to damage from dragging or rotational movement during extraction. For instance, adhesive couples the processor to a load plate that closes over the socket to compress the processor in the socket so that the adhesive extracts the processor as the load plate moves from the closed position to an open position distal the socket. As another example, the load plate closed position compresses the processor onto springs that bias the processor out of the socket upon movement of the load plate to the opened position.

The socket further includes a socket state indicator provided on the base and located proximate one of the actuator and the cover. The socket state indicator is positioned, such that a relative spacing between the socket state indicator and one of the actuator and cover indicates when the cover and base are in the open state. The socket state indicator may include a ramped detent provided within the actuator's range of motion. Alternatively, the socket state indicator may include posts formed on the base. The cover moves relative to the posts as the state of the socket changes.

Abstract: Displaceable card guides for use with high packing ratio housings for network tap modules. The housing allows the user to maintain all network taps in any given system in one housing and location. This increases the ease of maintaining multiple network taps and allows the network tap modules to be powered by a power supply included with the housing. The displaceable card guides enable a set network tap modules to be housed in a single housing with negligible or no spacing between adjacent modules. In addition, these card guides the associated housing are generally applicable to a number of other types of modular electrical or optical components.

  • Patent number: 6974346
Abstract: An LGA connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a generally rectangular pick up cap (3). The connector has a metal clip (25, 25?) having a pair of arcuate lateral sides (256). The pick up cap has a plane top surface (300) and a bottom surface (301). A pair of supporting members (309, 300?) is formed at opposite lateral sides of the pick up cap respectively, each supporting member depending from the bottom surface. When the pick up cap is engagingly mounted on a top portion of the connector, the supporting members are tightly attached on the lateral sides of the clip to support the pick up cap. A vacuum suction device can reliably engage the top surface of the pick up cap without causing damage to the pick up cap. The LGA connector assembly can thus be safely moved to a desired location on a PCB.
