Inserting a two-wire power line into the groove on the lamp socket causes the two conductors of the two-wire power line to be separated by the raised, pointed strip and moved into the two branch grooves to further become respectively connected to and retained by the two curved, conductive strip springs.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1991Date of Patent: April 7, 1992Inventor: W. Patent number: 4973263Abstract: A sealed cable splice is disclosed for use in connecting electrically controlled sprinkler valves or other electrical or electronic devices to a control unit. A dual conductor polarity-keyed cable is stripped of its insulation at the end of the cable exposing the bare conductors which are then inserted into a polarity-preserving matching hole in the end of the splice. The exposed conductor enters into a socket area and then into an interior chamber of the splice where it is cinched by a electrical connector that allows a wire to be inserted but not removed. The insulation from a second cable is removed at the end of that cable and is inserted into the other side of the splice in a similar manner. Connection is now made between the two cables. The splice, has previously been filled with a displaceable sealant so that when the conductors are inserted into the splice, the sealant is displaced and forms a seal around the cables and the electrical connection.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1989Date of Patent: November 27, 1990Assignee: Solatrol, Inc.Inventor: Wyn Y. Patent number: 4936777Abstract: This invention is directed to an improved connector for turn-knob 3-way switched medium base lamp holders. By means of the improved structures forming the connecting holes, through which the electrical wires are inserted, to match the spring force of the connecting springs located within the lamp holder body. The electrical connection is made by the pinching action of the connecting spring against the electric wire through the holes on the top of the lamp holder body. Improved performance of this electrical connection is achieved by the grooves and bends formed in the connecting spring for applying sufficient force to provide a good electrical connection without deformation of the wire.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1989Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Inventor: Jean Y. Patent number: 4927381Abstract: An electrical push-pull connector which includes a housing (1) having a pair of slots (11 and 12) formed through a top surface thereof for insert of a pair of electrical leads (A and B). An insulation disc (2) is secured to the housing (1). A screwshell member (3) is secured to the housing (1) and the screwshell member (3) and the insulation disc (2) are rivetted to the housing (1). A displaceable actuation mechanism is provided for electrically actuating the connector system. The displaceable actuation mechanism includes a longitudinally extending and displaceable push-pull stem member (4) which extends through the housing (1). The push-pull stem member (4) has coupled to it an electrically conductive sliding brass member (42) which is displaceable within a central slot formed in a housing (1). A coil spring (43) contacts the stem member (4) for biasing the stem member (4) in a predetermined direction.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1989Date of Patent: May 22, 1990Inventor: Jean Y. Shang

Patent number: 4913661Abstract: A high voltage electrical connector for quickly connecting a stripped back electrical conductor with a neon electrode by plug-in means including a tubular glass insulated enclosure, a metal liner in the glass enclosure, and a metal connector telescopically positioned inside of the liner. The connector includes a longitudinal opening inside and a longitudinal channel on the outside, both for receiving a bent back stripped electrical conductor. The liner includes an inwardly biased electrical contact engaging the conductor in the longitudinal channel. Rotational alignment between the connector and the liner align the biased electrical contact with the longitudinal channel.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1989Date of Patent: April 3, 1990Assignee: Signeon CorporationInventors: Carl O. Patent number: 4892488Abstract: A sealed electrical connection comprises a socket connector and an electrical connector plug assembly which includes a plurality of cable termination assemblies. The cable termination assemblies, which include either a conductive elastomeric terminal or a sheet metal terminal in an insulator housing, are put together by arranging an axially projecting bared conductor core end of an ignition cable coaxially with a ferrule portion of the terminal and inserting the axially projecting bared conductor core end of the ignition cable axially into the coaxially arranged ferrule portion of the terminal.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1987Date of Patent: January 9, 1990Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Charles R. Patent number: 4824395Abstract: A push-in wire connector for providing electrical connection between two or more conductors includes a housing defining an enclosure with a one-piece, conductive clip disposed in the housing. There are apertures in the housing to permit entry of the wires which are to be connected. The clip has first and second portions. The first portion is held fixed in the housing and the second portion is folded back on the first to define a cantilever spring. The spring is normally disposed opposite the apertures. When conductors are inserted into the housing they deflect the spring. The spring is then engaged with the wires to impart a clamping force which retains the wires in the housing. The clip is made of a bimetallic strip of material which, when heated by electrical current, expands in such a manner that the clamping force on the wires is increased. The exterior of the housing has a dovetail pin and socket arrangement which permits stacking of multiple, like connectors.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1988Date of Patent: April 25, 1989Assignee: Ideal Industries, Inc.Inventor: WIlliam E. Patent number: 4715826Abstract: An edge connector (1) comprises a housing (2) having an aperture (3) in which an edge (6) of a circuit board (7) is received. One or more connector pins (12) (13) extending from the housing each have a sharp-edged contact region (19), plated with a ductile metallic material such as tin or lead, and capable of penetrating and deforming a similarly plated contact pad (20) to establish a low resistance electrical connection therebetween. The housing (2) and the circuit board (7) are pivotable with respect to one another between a first position in which there is clearance between the connector pins (12) (13) and the contact pads (20) present on the circuit board, and a second position in which they are in electrical contact one with the other. Securing means such as resilient clips (25) (26) (30) (34) hold the circuit board with respect to the housing (2) in the second position.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1986Date of Patent: December 29, 1987Assignee: BICC Public Limited CompanyInventors: John C.
