Patent number: 6860754Abstract: A conductor lead and power cord retention system for a compressor/pump has a unique bushing for capturing and pinching the cord in an opening in the pump housing. The bushing has a leading end defining an open-ended slot. The bushing slides into a pocket in the housing and overlaps an open-ended slot in the housing. Overlapping the slots creates a bounded (circular for example) opening sized to snuggly pinch the cord sheathing without damaging the conductors. The slots are shaped and sized to accommodate a variety of cord diameters. The bushing is retained in the recess by a pair of angled snap tabs that engage notches and further by mounting of the drive motor to the housing, which forces the bushing against the housing to prevent rattling as well as helps maintain the necessary pinch force and prevents the bushing from being removed without tools.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2003Date of Patent: March 1, 2005Assignee: Thomas Industries Inc.Inventor: Paul J. Patent number: 5411413Abstract: To assure that there does not arise a malfunction that a cable connected to a crimp terminal is disconnected from a connector housing, and moreover, the cable is electrically incorrectly connected to the crimp terminal crimped on the cable, after the cable is drawn outside of a connector housing, it is once bent in the downward direction while extending through a cable receiving groove formed at one end of a slide housing, and subsequently, the cable is retained by a cable retainer adapted to be inserted into the connector housing on a cable receiving portion. At this time, the cable is retained in a cable retaining groove formed at one end of the cable retainer while extending through a cable extension groove formed at one end of the cable receiving portion. Thus, the cable is firmly held by the cable retainer in the squeezed state in cooperation with the cable receiving portion without any possibility that the cable is disconnected from the connector housing.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1994Date of Patent: May 2, 1995Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventor: Masaya Yamamoto

Patent number: 5261395Abstract: A tooless pulse generator to lead connection for an implantable cardiac stimulator includes first and second transversely extending slots formed in the header and intersecting the lead cavities formed therein. Fitted into the rectangular slots are first and second rectangular plates, each having an elongated hole therethrough. Leaf-type springs incorporated into the rectangular slots normally urge the two plates in opposite directions causing the apertures therein to be non-aligned. By squeezing on rubber buttons affixed to the ends of the respective plates and bonded to the header, the apertures formed through the plates can be brought into alignment, allowing the lead body and the proximal pin to be easily inserted through the aligned openings and into the connector block.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1992Date of Patent: November 16, 1993Assignee: Cardiac Pacemaker, Inc.Inventors: Farrell G. Patent number: 5158476Abstract: A modular strain relief device is plugged directly into an electrical connector location in the interior of a housing assembly, according to one embodiment of this invention. The body of the strain relief connector provides a surface around which a portion of the wire conductor is wrapped for additional strain relief. Arm-like projections keep the wire conductors in close proximity to the body of the strain relief connector. An integrally molded locking structure attached to one end of the body of the strain relief connector allows it to be locked into an unused plug-in connector location inside the housing assembly. A bundle of wire conductors is secured to the flexible body of the strain relief connector with a cable tie placed through an aperture in a molded projection located at one end of the body of the strain relief device.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1992Date of Patent: October 27, 1992Assignee: Landis & Gyr Metering Inc.Inventor: Lane C.
