  • Patent number: 6524125
Abstract: The invention provides a latching connector having a reduced height. Receiving plates 26 are pushed by pushing members 44 as the fitting of two housings 10 and 40 progresses. If the fitting of two housings 10 and 40 is halted while they are in a half-fitted state, compressible coiled springs 25 push the pushing members 44 back, this allowing the half-fitted state of the two housings 10 and 40 to be detected. Position moving means 20 (which consists of the compressible coiled springs 25 and a slider 21) and a locking arm 12 are aligned along an upper face 10S of the first housing 10. Consequently, the height of this first housing 10 is reduced, and as a result the height of the connector overall can be reduced.

Wherein, a sounding device is mounted in a slide groove of an insertion seat and has a slide block and an elastic element both can slide in the slide groove; thereby, when the inserting and extracting member is moved inwardly of a channel of the insertion seat, it drives the slide block inwardly to compress the elastic element. When the inserting and extracting member is in position, the slide block is abutted against and is released from the inserting and extracting member and is elastically restored to its original position by the elastic element to collide with the inner wall of the slide groove indicating that the inserting and extracting member is surely inserted in position.

Abstract: A connector 1 provided with a lock ensuring mechanism includes a female housing 2, a male housing 3, and a lock ensuring member 4. The female housing 2 is provided with a lock hole 5. The male housing 3 is provided with a lock arm 16 having a lock projection 36 which is adapted to be engaged with the lock hole 5. The lock ensuring member 4 is movably supported by the male housing 3. The lock ensuring member 4 has a flexible piece 31 which is in contact with the lock projection 36 in a state where the lock projection 36 is not engaged with the lock hole 5. When the lock projection 36 has come into engagement with the lock hole 5, the flexible piece 31 is detached from the lock projection 36. In this manner, an incompletely engaged state of the housings with each other can be reliably detected.

Abstract: A connector couple having a device for indicating the connector mating situation, comprises a first connector and a second connector. The first and second connectors have first and second insulative housings respectively. A spring tab is formed on the second insulative housing, and a recess is opened in the first insulative housing corresponding to the spring tab. The recess comprises a guide portion and a locating portion. The guide portion is formed as an inclined surface and vertically spaced apart from the locating portion. When the first connector is mated with the second connector, the spring tab will slide on the inclined surface and finally hit on the locating portion, whereby a sound made by the hit can indicate the completeness of the mating of the connectors.

Abstract: The invention avoids the problem of resilient stopping arms losing their resilience. A female housing has a locking arm capable of engaging with a locking member of a male housing protruding therefrom. A detecting member is attached to a posterior side of this female housing. A pair of resilient stopping legs extend in an anterior direction from a main body of the detecting member. Anterior end portions of the resilient stopping legs have outwardly protruding hook-shaped protrusions protruding therefrom, these engaging with temporary stopping holes or main stopping holes provided in side walls of the female housing. Retaining protrusions protrude further outwards from protruding anterior ends of the resilient stopping legs. These retaining protrusions protrude to the exterior of the female housing from the temporary stopping holes or the main stopping holes. Recessed grooves corresponding in location to the main stopping holes are formed in inner side faces of a hood of the male housing.

  • Patent number: 6439914
Abstract: The invention provides an electrical connector with a reduced number of components and improved operability. As a fitting detecting member 40 is moved from a detecting position to a waiting position, releasing members 52 of a short-circuit releasing member 50 return, due to their own resilient returning force, from a short-circuit releasing position to a position allowing short-circuiting to occur. A separate means is not required to return the releasing members 52 to the position allowing short-circuiting to occur. Consequently, the number of components required is reduced. After two housings 10 and 20 have been fitted together, moving the fitting detecting member 40 from the waiting position to the detecting position pushes the releasing members 52 from the position allowing short-circuiting to occur to the short-circuit releasing position.

Abstract: The invention provides a compact configuration for an electrical connector having a fitting detecting function. A housing groove 25 of a female housing 20 is provided with a locking arm 26 and a detecting member 35. The locking arm 26 bends while two housings 10 and 20 are being fitted together, then returns to its original position after the two housings 10 and 20 have reached a correct fitting state and engages with a protrusion 16 of the male housing 10. The detecting member 35 is capable of being inserted from a temporary attaching position to a main attaching position. When the locking arm 26, while in a bent state, makes contact with the detecting member 35 and thereby prevents its insertion, this allows detection of the fact that the two housings 10 and 20 have not been correctly fitted together. A retaining rod 42 is provided in the center of an anterior face of the detecting member 35, and a pair of contacting rods are provided on both sides of the retaining rod 42.
