A conductor is supported in the cavity and is configured to electrically connect with an inverter. A terminal lug extends through the hole. The terminal lug includes a body having a first end disposed in the cavity and attached to the conductor and a second end external to the cavity and configured to attach to a terminal lead of an electric machine. The terminal lug further includes a support integrally formed with the body and disposed between the first and second ends to be located within the hole. A sealing member is attached to the support and is in sealing engagement with the hole to prevent fluid from entering the cavity.

    Abstract: Connection system that provides robust, waterproof, high current capacity connections between cables and devices. Cables each contain a single conductive wire that terminates in a threaded rod. The threaded rod screws into a corresponding threaded hole in a receiving socket. Engagement of the threads provides a large contact surface area to support high current capacity and to provide a strong holding force to secure the connection. Cables terminate in a housing with an O-ring that forms a waterproof seal; the connection system can therefore be used for underwater connections. Right-handed and left-handed threads may be used on opposite ends of a cable so that tightening or loosening connections on both sides causes twists in the cable to cancel out. The connection system may include a hub with two busses that each have multiple connection points for cables. The hub may distribute power to connected devices and support inter-device communication.

DSB interfaces provide for communication between DSB Hosts and DSB Devices and allow for the transfer of operating and battery charging power from DSB Host to DSB Device. In addition, the DSB host contains a switched Auxiliary Voltage Supply (AVS) which can provide up to 15 W of power to DSB devices for battery charging or other high power needs. The DSB interface eliminates the need for multiple cables for different parameter sensing devices as there is only one type of connector and, accordingly, reduces the risk of damage caused by inadvertently plugging a parameter sensing device into the wrong receptacle.
