Conductive Coating Surround Mutually Isolated Contacts Patents (Class 439/607.03)
  • Patent number: 9520689
Abstract: An electrical connector designed for high speed signals. The connector includes one or more features that, when used alone or in combination, extend performance to higher speeds. These features may include compensation for tie bars that are used to hold conductive members in place for molding a housing around the conductive members. Removal of the tie bars during manufacture of the connector may leave artifacts in the conductive members and/or housing, which may be addressed by the features. The conductive members, for example, may include regions, adjacent tie bar locations, that compensate for portions of the tie bar that are not fully removed. Alternatively or additionally, a housing may include openings around tie bar locations such that a punch may be used to sever the tie bars. These openings may be filled to avoid performance-affecting artifacts.

Abstract: A connector with embedded charging integrated circuits mainly has an insulating housing, an insulating base, a plurality of connecting terminals, a PCB, a charging IC, and a plurality of forwarding terminals. A tongue portion extends outward from one side of the insulating housing, a plurality of terminal slots are disposed in the tongue portion. The connecting terminals, the forwarding terminals and the charging IC electrically connect with the PCB. The insulating base is to carry the PCB, and the connecting terminals are accommodated in the terminal slots while the insulating base assembles with the insulating housing. While the connector receives electrical energy provided by the motherboard of an external device, the charging current provided by the motherboard is transmitted to the charging IC through the forwarding terminals, the charging current processed and improved by the charging IC is output via the connecting terminals to speed up the charging.

Abstract: A connector assembly is provided that includes a front end mating connector which is received in a socket. The front end mating connector includes a pluggable transceiver, latching mechanism, and passive optical connector. Standard optical ribbon fibers are provided that plug into the passive connector, which in turn plugs into the transceiver. The passive connector and the transceiver are coupled together by the latching mechanism. The coupled connector then plugs into the socket in a first direction. The socket includes electrical connector wafers. As the transceiver is plugged into the socket, circuit boards within the transceiver move in a second direction to engage the wafers. The transceiver has a circuit that converts the optical signals received by the receiver ribbons into electrical signals that are recognized by the wafers and passed to the circuit board.
