    Abstract: A header connector includes signal contacts, header shields and a header housing holding the signal contacts and the header shields. The signal contacts each have a base, a mating pin and a mounting portion. The header shields have walls defining shield pockets receiving corresponding pairs of the signal contacts to provide electrical shielding for the pairs of signal contacts. Each header shield has a base and a mounting portion. The header housing has a front shell and a rear shell. The front shell is dielectric and the rear shell is conductive and providing electrical shielding for the signal contacts. The front shell holds the signal contacts. The rear shell holds the header shields and is electrically connected to each of the header shields.

    Abstract: An interconnection system with a compliant shield between a connector and a substrate such as a PCB. The compliant shield may provide current flow paths between shields internal to the connector and ground structures of the PCB. The connector, compliant shield and PCB may be configured to provide current flow in locations relative to signal conductors that provide desirable signal integrity for signals carried by the signal conductors. In some embodiments, the current flow paths may be adjacent the signal conductors, offset in a transverse direction from an axis of a pair of conductors. Such paths may be created by tabs extending from connector shields. A compliant conductive member of the compliant shield may contact the tabs and a conductive pad on a surface of the PCB. Shadow vias, running from the surface pad to internal ground structures may be positioned adjacent the tip of the tabs.

    Abstract: An EMI collar is provided that is configured to be secured about a housing of a pluggable optical transceiver module. The configuration of the EMI collar and the method by which the collar is attached to the housing of the transceiver module ensures that the collar will not be damaged when the transceiver module housing is inserted into a cage. Ensuring that the collar will not be damaged during insertion ensures that electrically conductive contact points on the collar will not be eliminated by insertion of the housing into a cage. In addition, dimples, or indentations, formed on the spring fingers of the EMI collar result in additional electrically conductive contact points on the fingers that result in a reduction in the size of the maximum EMI aperture dimension of the collar. Reducing the maximum EMI aperture dimension of the collar greatly improves the ability of the collar to attenuate EMI signals, even EMI signals having high frequencies.
