Shield Encloses Plural Connectors (i.e., Modular Or Stacked) Patents (Class 439/607.23)
  • Publication number: 20090233485
Abstract: A connector system may facilitate interconnection between electrical components, such as a printed circuit board and a cable. The connector system may reduce the effect of electromagnetic interference on the transfer of power and data signals between the cable and the printed circuit board. The connector systems may include a cable connector assembly and an electromagnetic shield. The electromagnetic shield may include a body that is configured to receive the connector assembly, thus, providing a shielded channel into which the connector assembly may be inserted. The connector system may includes latches that facilitate having multiple connectors adjacent to one another in close proximity. The cable assembly include pivotally supported latches with vertically staggered handles such that when a pair of connector systems are mounted laterally side-by-side, the adjacent handles can pivot without interfering with each other.

Abstract: A terminal module for assembly into a high-speed electrical connector having a contact receiving first contact pair and second contact pair, the second contact pair being in electrical communication with the first contact pair via a corresponding pair of contact interconnections. The contact interconnections have a substantially identical length of the corresponding pair and are arranged within parallel planes. The module further includes a shielding member arranged and disposed in close proximity to at least three edges of one or more of the first contact pair, the second contact pair and the contact interconnections to provide shielding. A housing member is arranged and disposed to receive backplane contacts via contact receiving apertures. The housing member is engaged with the first contact pair to receive the contacts into the contacts of the first contact pair. A backplane having grounding plate grid is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090149066
Abstract: An electrical connector has an insulative housing (10) and a number of electrical contacts (20). The insulative housing has a tongue (14, 15) defining a front face (145) and an upper side and a lower side perpendicular to the front face. The electrical contacts include a number of upper contacts (21) and lower contacts (22). The lower contacts are arranged on the lower side of the tongue and each including a contact section. The upper contacts each includes an extending section (212) arranged on the upper side of the tongue. A contact section (215) is bending from a side edge of the extending section of the upper contact and extending through a passageway (147) of the tongue for arranging on the lower side and avoiding the upper contacts shorting to a metal shell of a mating plug.

Abstract: The shield shell is formed of a shield shell main body, a shield shell auxiliary member and a fixing member. The shield shell main body is made of die-cast aluminum. The shield shell auxiliary member is formed by pressing a steel plate, and has a surface plated with gold. The fixing member has a ring shape, which is formed by pressing a steel plate. With this configuration, it is possible to provide a shield shell that can be manufactured at a low cost, that can improve reliability of the shielding effect, and that can improve assembling workability of the shielded wire.
