Abstract: A mounting block has a plurality of insulation displacement connectors or terminal clips, mounted in openings in the block in traverse rows which are evenly spaced along the length of the block. The block is a dielectric body of conventional shape having fanning strip sections at its opposite margins. The insulation displacement connectors or terminal clips are loosely received through holes in the block and have a pair of wire-receiving prongs that are symmetric about a central axis so that the terminal clips do not require a specific orientation relative to the center line of the block. The terminal clips each have a wire-retaining receptacle near the upper end and are slit so that a wire may be slid down and the wire insulation displaced for electrical connection to the terminal clip. The slit forms resilient arms that are tapered from an upper end downwardly.

  • Patent number: 5299957
Abstract: The electrical apparatus, for example a switching device includes an enclosure (2), elements (62, 64, 66) for mounting it accordingly to at least two mounting methods, and connection blocks (8, 10) attached to the enclosure (2) and which can be moved in such a way that the screws (56) are accessible for clamping the connection wires (60) from the front or from the rear of the apparatus. The flexible hooking lugs (64, 66) which are used for the rail mounting (68) are secured by the connection blocks (8, 10) in their rear position. Moving the connection blocks (8, 10) ensures that the openings giving access to the unused clamping screws (68) are blocked out.

  • Patent number: 5213520
Abstract: A bulkhead connector includes an array of bus bars extending from a first face to a second face for interconnecting associated power cables on opposing sides of the bulkhead, and is also suited for bulkhead openings of the type having a cylindrical sleeve extending therearound outwardly from the bulkhead. Contained between a pair of metal plates and within a cylindrical sleeve is an elastomeric member through which the bus bars extend, the elastomeric member being compressed within the sleeve upon said first and second metal plates being tightly drawn toward each other by a stud assembly. The metal plates and elastomeric member provide fire resistant material extending transversely completely across the bulkhead opening, with apertures through which extend the bus bars. Exposed contact sections of the bus bars permit terminals to be fastened thereto, and the connector is adapted to prevent rotation of the fastened terminals during in-service use.

  • Patent number: 5190468
Abstract: An improved ribbon cable connector is described for providing connection between an electrical device and a ribbon cable. Receptacle modules and a splice module having identical outer dimensions are provided for insertion into the cover of a receptacle tap. Each receptacle module contains receptacle sites for insertion of pins from an electrical device. Each receptacle site of the receptacle module is connected to an insulator displacement pin that is used to establish a connection with a conductor of a ribbon cable. A splice module connects pairs of insulator displacement pins together so that two different ribbon cables can be connected together in an efficient manner. Alignment projections on both the receptacle and splice modules allow for precise positioning of the insulator displacement pins within each module with the conductors of the ribbon cable.
